The new Redmi Note series brings 1.5K AMOLED displays, Snapdragon chipsets, 50MP OIS cameras and up to 12GB RAM to the mid-range segment.

Xiaomi India has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro Series in India, comprising the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G. The new smartphones focus heavily on battery endurance, durability and camera capabilities, with the Pro Max packing a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and 100W Xiaomi HyperCharge. The series also introduces Xiaomi's Titan Quality approach, combining Double Five-Star Quality Certifications from SGS and TÜV, Corning Gorilla Victus 2 and IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Both phones also feature large 1.5K AMOLED displays and Snapdragon chipsets.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Series Specifications

The Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED Super Sunlight Display with a 2772 × 1280 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit colour depth and up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. Both phones also feature TÜV Triple Eye Protection and Wet Touch 2.0 for more reliable touch input when the display is wet. The Pro Max takes the entertainment experience further with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. Both models also feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio.

Battery life is one of the biggest highlights of the Redmi Note 17 Pro series. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max packs a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W Xiaomi HyperCharge, while the standard Pro gets a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W HyperCharge.

Both phones support wired reverse charging. The Pro Max supports 27W reverse charging, while the Pro supports 22.5W reverse charging.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max features a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a wide f/1.5 aperture and a 6P lens. It is paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera. For video recording, the rear camera supports 4K recording at 30fps and 1080p recording at up to 60fps.

On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and support for 4K video recording at 30fps. The standard Redmi Note 17 Pro also gets a 50MP OIS main camera, although it uses an f/1.8 aperture and 5P lens. It is paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 16MP front camera with HDR and AI Beautify support.

Both models offer features such as Live Moments, HDR, Portrait Mode, Ultra HD Mode, Panorama, Pro Mode, Dual Video and Underwater Mode. The Underwater Mode will be enabled through an OTA update, subject to availability.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process with an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.6GHz. It comes with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. The standard Redmi Note 17 Pro uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, also based on a 4nm process, with CPU speeds of up to 2.4GHz. It comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Both phones support dual-band Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity, along with an IR blaster and an in-screen optical fingerprint sensor.  Durability is another major focus of the series. Both smartphones feature Corning Gorilla Victus 2 and an extensive combination of IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

Xiaomi has also highlighted Double Five-Star Quality Certifications from SGS and TÜV. The company groups these durability features under its Titan Quality standard, designed to improve resistance against everyday knocks, water and dust. The Redmi Note 17 Pro series runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box. Xiaomi promises four years of software updates and six years of security patches, which gives the devices a relatively long software support window for their segment. HyperOS 3 also brings system-level optimisations across performance, battery management and connectivity, alongside integration with compatible Xiaomi devices.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G will go on sale from September 17, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G will be available starting September 23. Both smartphones will be sold through mi.com, Amazon.in and Xiaomi Retail.

As part of the launch offers, buyers can get up to Rs 5,000 instant bank discount with eligible SBI Card, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IDFC FIRST Bank transactions. Alternatively, eligible HDB Financial Services affordability options offer 10% cashback of up to Rs 5,000.

Additional benefits include three months of YouTube Premium Lite, six months of Google One with 200GB cloud storage, and eligible Jio users can get an OTT Pass priced at Rs 200 with access to 16 premium apps, along with 18 months of Google Gemini Pro benefits worth Rs 35,100. The Redmi Note 17 Pro series is clearly going after users who want big numbers across the board, but the Pro Max is where Xiaomi gets particularly aggressive. A 10,000mAh battery, 100W charging, 50MP OIS camera, 1.5K AMOLED display and IP69K protection make it a fairly loaded package for its price.

The standard Pro is the more accessible option, but the Pro Max looks like the more interesting device if battery life is a priority. The 10,000mAh silicon-carbon cell could be particularly useful for heavy users who spend long hours gaming, streaming or capturing content. At an effective starting price of Rs 33,999 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Rs 44,999 for the Pro Max, Xiaomi is putting a strong emphasis on hardware value. The real test will be whether the Snapdragon platforms and camera performance can match the impressive specification sheet once the phones are available to consumers.
