Epson has launched the WorkForce DS-530III, an A4 duplex sheet-fed colour scanner designed for businesses handling high volumes of documents. The compact scanner offers scanning speeds of up to 40ppm/80ipm, one-pass duplex scanning and a daily duty cycle of up to 6,500 pages.

The Epson WorkForce DS-530III can scan at speeds of up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) or 80 images per minute (ipm). It can handle up to 6,500 pages per day, making it suited for offices and businesses that need to digitise large volumes of documents. Its automatic feeding mode can handle multiple documents, including pages of different sizes, in a single scanning session. The scanner features Epson's Paper Protection and Double Feed Detection Skip (DFDS) technologies. These can detect abnormal paper feeds and help protect documents, including pages with folds and stickers.
It also features glass dirt detection, which alerts users when dirt is detected on the scanning glass. Epson says this can help reduce re-scans and maintain consistent scan quality.
The WorkForce DS-530III supports one-pass duplex scanning, allowing both sides of a document to be captured simultaneously. The scanner also supports carrier sheets for fragile or irregular-sized documents. Ultrasonic and length detection features help identify overlapping pages and long documents during scanning.
For documents that cannot be handled by the sheet-fed scanner, the WorkForce DS-530III can be paired with the Epson Perfection V39II flatbed photo scanner through an optional flatbed dock. This setup allows users to scan thicker materials such as books as well as fragile documents such as receipts while maintaining a relatively compact workspace.
The scanner comes with Epson Scan 2 and Document Capture Pro software. These tools support document management, improve scan quality and allow users to create searchable PDFs using OCR.
The software can also recognise barcodes and blank pages and supports up to 30 customised scan settings, allowing businesses to configure frequently used scanning workflows.
