Sandisk has announced the availability of its next-generation portable SSD portfolio in India, introducing the Sandisk Portable SSD and Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD. The new lineup targets everyday users, creative professionals, and content creators dealing with increasingly large photography, video, and AI-generated files.
Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD Features and Specifications
The Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD is designed for photographers, videographers, creative enthusiasts, and professionals working with large files. It offers read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s, with Sandisk claiming that users can transfer up to 1,000 high-resolution photos in under 60 seconds. The drive comes with up to three-metre drop protection and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. It also includes password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
The Extreme Portable SSD is available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB storage capacities and comes with a five-year limited warranty. The standard Sandisk Portable SSD is aimed at students, office workers, and everyday users who need portable storage for backups, photos, videos, and personal files. It offers read speeds of up to 1,000MB/s and features a compact design intended for easy portability. The drive also offers up to two-metre drop protection.
Unlike the Extreme variant, the standard Portable SSD is available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. It comes with a three-year limited warranty.
Sandisk Portable SSD Price in India and Availability
The new Sandisk portable SSD lineup is available through leading e-commerce platforms and retail stores across India. The pricing is as follows:
The Sandisk Portable SSD starts at Rs 18,999 for the 1TB variant, while the Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD starts at Rs 29,599 for the 1TB variant. Sandisk's refreshed portable SSD lineup caters to two different user groups, with the standard model focusing on everyday backups and the Extreme variant offering faster transfers, stronger durability, and hardware encryption. The Rs 10,600 starting-price difference between their 1TB variants makes the choice largely dependent on performance and protection requirements. For photographers and video creators handling large files, the Extreme model offers a more capable package, while the standard SSD should be sufficient for everyday storage needs.
