Apple has announced its ‘Welcome Home' event for October 13, where the company is expected to unveil its first smart home hub alongside refreshed versions of the HomePod Mini and Apple TV 4K. The event will take place in Tribeca, New York, starting at 9 am ET (6:30 pm IST), and will be livestreamed on Apple’s YouTube channel.
The announcement was shared by Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, on X. While Apple has not confirmed which products will be unveiled, the event’s name and teaser suggest a focus on smart home devices and entertainment products. Reports also indicate that Apple could host another launch event later in October.
Apple smart home hub, HomePod Mini 2 expected
Apple’s first smart home hub is expected to be the main attraction at the October 13 event. Reports suggest the device could feature a square touchscreen measuring 6 to 7 inches, attached to a round base with built-in speakers. Apple may offer both a tabletop version and a wall-mounted variant, giving users different ways to integrate the device into their homes.
The smart home hub is also tipped to feature Apple’s A18 chipset and support its Siri AI capabilities. A front-facing camera could enable FaceTime video calls, while a dedicated operating system is reportedly being developed for the device. If launched, the hub could become a central interface for controlling compatible smart home devices and accessing Apple’s services.
Apple is also expected to introduce a second-generation HomePod Mini. The updated smart speaker could feature a new chipset to support Siri AI, along with Apple’s N1 networking chip. However, the company has not confirmed the specifications or features of either device.
The Apple TV 4K could receive an update as well. The next-generation streaming device is rumoured to feature a new chipset and Siri AI capabilities, potentially expanding Apple’s AI-powered features across its home entertainment lineup. Details about its hardware and other upgrades remain unconfirmed.
Apple could host another launch event in October.
The October 13 event may not be Apple’s only hardware announcement this month. According to a Bloomberg report cited by Gadgets 360, the company could hold another event on October 27, focusing on Mac and iPad products.
The rumoured lineup includes Apple’s first MacBook with a touchscreen, a MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chipset, an updated iMac with an M6 processor, and a new iPad Mini. The touchscreen MacBook could reportedly be marketed as the MacBook Ultra, although Apple has not confirmed the product name or launch plans.
For now, Apple’s immediate focus appears to be its smart home ecosystem. The October 13 event should provide more clarity on the company’s plans for its home hub, smart speakers, and streaming hardware, while a possible October 27 showcase could bring further announcements for Mac and iPad users.
