Dreame H12 Dual FlexReach Review: Brilliant At Cleaning, But Not Quite Effortless

I’ve used plenty of cleaning gadgets over time, but the Dreame H12 Dual FlexReach feels like a product that is trying to replace more than one thing at home. It combines vacuuming and mopping into one system, while also giving you the flexibility to switch between different cleaning setups. On paper, that sounds incredibly convenient. In practice, however, the experience is a little more complicated.

What Is Good?

  • Premium design and solid build quality
  • Impressive 23,000Pa suction power
  • Effective wet-and-dry cleaning with multiple modes
  • 180-degree lie-flat design for cleaning under furniture
  • 90°C hot-water self-cleaning with heated-air drying

What Is Bad?

  • Initial setup takes time
  • Switching between vacuuming and mopping consoles has a learning curve
  • Rapid battery drain at maximum power
  • May require multiple runs for larger homes
  • Does not feel completely effortless in daily use

The H12 Dual FlexReach looks premium, feels well-built, and, most importantly, the actual cleaning performance is impressive. It has no trouble picking up dirt and handling wet messes, and the suction power is one of the things that immediately stood out to me, but getting to that cleaning experience takes a little patience. The initial setup takes some time, and switching between the vacuuming and mopping consoles isn’t quite as straightforward as I expected. It isn’t difficult once you understand the system, but a first-time user might need some time to get comfortable with it.

Then there is the battery. When you run the H12 Dual FlexReach at full speed, the battery seems to disappear almost as quickly as the dirt it is picking up. At one point, I felt like I was watching the percentage drop almost one per cent at a time. That creates an interesting balance. The H12 Dual FlexReach is excellent at the job it is designed to do, but it doesn’t always make the process around that job feel effortless.

The Design Feels Premium From The Moment You Pick It Up

Dreame has done a good job with the design of the H12 Dual FlexReach. The machine looks premium, and the build quality reinforces that impression. This doesn’t feel like a basic household cleaning appliance that has simply been designed to get the job done. There is a sense of refinement to the construction, and the overall design feels appropriate for a product sitting in a premium segment.

The materials, finish and overall construction give it the kind of presence you’d expect from a high-end cordless cleaning appliance, and considering that this is something you’re going to push around your house, the build quality matters more than it might initially seem. A cleaning device goes through a lot of movement, gets exposed to water and dirt, and is likely to be used regularly. It needs to feel like it can handle that routine. It looks premium and feels well built, and I don’t get the impression that Dreame has cut corners on the hardware.

Setting It Up Takes More Time Than I Expected

The initial setup isn’t particularly complicated, but it does take some time. That’s worth mentioning because the H12 Dual FlexReach isn’t the kind of device where you simply take it out of the box, press a button and immediately start cleaning. There are multiple components involved, and you need to get familiar with how everything fits together.

The bigger learning curve comes when you start switching between the vacuuming and mopping consoles. It isn’t difficult once you understand the mechanism, but for someone using the H12 Dual FlexReach for the first time, the process can be somewhat confusing. You’re dealing with different configurations, and it takes a little time before switching between them becomes second nature. This is one of those things that probably won’t bother an experienced user as much, but first impressions matter, especially when you’re buying a premium appliance that’s supposed to make household chores easier. The setup isn’t bad, but I expected it to be more effortless. The switching mechanism between the vacuuming and mopping consoles is something I’d want Dreame to make more intuitive, particularly for first-time users.

The Cleaning Performance Is Where The H12 Dual FlexReach Shines

Once you actually start cleaning, the H12 Dual FlexReach makes a much stronger case for itself. The suction is impressive, and the cleaning performance is one of the biggest reasons I enjoyed using this machine. It doesn’t feel like you’re compromising on cleaning power simply because the device is trying to combine multiple functions into one system. The 23,000Pa suction power makes it noticeable and this is also where the premium hardware starts to make sense. You’re not just paying for a fancy-looking appliance. The actual cleaning performance backs up the design. Whether you’re dealing with everyday dust and debris or a mess that needs more than just vacuuming, the H12 Dual FlexReach is capable of handling the job effectively, and for a device that combines vacuuming and mopping, that versatility is important. You don’t want a machine that’s technically capable of doing both but mediocre at each. The suction and cleaning performance are genuinely impressive, and this is where the device feels like it earns its premium positioning.

This isn’t a case where Dreame has packed a bunch of features into one machine and compromised the actual cleaning performance to make everything work together. The H12 Dual FlexReach feels powerful when you’re using it.

The wet-and-dry cleaning system also makes it considerably more versatile than a conventional vacuum. You can deal with everyday dry dirt while also handling wet messes without having to switch to an entirely different appliance. Dreame also includes automatic dirt detection, while the floor-washing system offers Smart, Suction, Turbo and Quiet modes, so whatever frustrations I had with the setup disappeared pretty quickly once I actually started cleaning.

Significant Battery Drop at Peak Performance

The battery is where my experience became a little frustrating. When you’re running the H12 Dual FlexReach at full speed, the battery percentage drops extremely quickly. At times, it genuinely felt like one second meant one per cent of battery.

Obviously, that’s not literally how the battery works throughout the entire cleaning session, but that’s how aggressive the drain felt while using the highest power setting. The problem is that maximum suction is also where you want the machine to perform at its best. If you’ve got a particularly dirty area or a mess that requires more power, you don’t necessarily want to start worrying about how much battery you’re consuming.

This makes the battery experience highly dependent on how you use the machine. If you’re cleaning smaller areas or have a small house and don’t constantly run it at maximum power, the experience may be considerably better. But if you’re someone who likes to use maximum suction whenever possible, you’ll notice the drain. The battery behaviour at full power is my biggest concern so far. I would have liked better endurance at maximum performance. People with significantly larger places would need to do multiple runs to get the whole house clean.

FlexReach Is More Than Just A Fancy Name

The 180-degree lie-flat design is one of those features that sounds like marketing until you actually use it. Being able to push the machine underneath furniture without having to move everything around can make a noticeable difference, especially in homes where beds, sofas and cabinets have limited clearance. The brush head can reach as low as 9.6cm, while the body can reach spaces down to 14cm, and this is exactly where the modular design starts making sense.

Instead of having a separate vacuum for open floors and another tool for difficult-to-reach areas, the H12 Dual FlexReach is designed to handle more of those situations itself. I think FlexReach is not a gimmick that exists just to make the specification sheet look impressive. If you regularly clean underneath beds or sofas, this can actually make the process easier.

The Self-Cleaning System Is Exactly What A Wet Vacuum Needs

One of the biggest advantages of a wet-and-dry vacuum is that you don’t want to finish cleaning your house and then be left with a dirty machine that needs to be cleaned manually.

The H12 Dual FlexReach addresses this with a 90°C hot-water self-cleaning system, followed by heated-air drying. Dreame says the drying cycle can operate for five or 30 minutes depending on the setting. It also uses a TangleCut scraper designed to deal with hair and debris around the brush. The clean-water tank is 780ml, while the used-water tank holds up to 700ml in the standing configuration and 450ml when the machine is used lie-flat. These aren’t just specifications that look good on paper. With a wet vacuum, the post-cleaning process is almost as important as the cleaning itself. This is the kind of automation I want from a premium wet-and-dry vacuum. If I’m paying Rs 45,000 for a cleaning machine, I don’t want the machine itself to become another chore after I’m done cleaning.

Verdict: Exceptional Performance Held Back by Ergonomic Quirks

The Dreame H12 Dual FlexReach succeeds at its primary mission: delivering genuine versatility without diluting cleaning power. At Rs 44,999, it commands a premium price tag, but the cost feels justified by its substantial build quality and 23,000Pa of raw suction, rather than superficial feature padding. The 180-degree FlexReach hinge is a genuine utility, making low-clearance areas far less frustrating to tackle.

Where the H12 Dual stumbles is in its day-to-day ergonomics. The initial setup requires patience, swapping between the vacuum and mop attachments carries a noticeable learning curve, and rapid battery depletion on maximum power forces you to plan your cleaning sessions strategically.

Crucially, these are workflow compromises rather than performance flaws. The H12 Dual doesn’t struggle with dirty floors—it struggles with making the process feel completely frictionless. If you can accept a bit of operational overhead in exchange for class-leading cleaning muscle, it’s a compromise well worth making at this price
