Urban Vibe Clip Review: The Perfect Workout Companion?

If you’re looking for TWS that don’t isolate you from your surroundings and have a unique look then the Urban Vibe clip might be your answer. These open-ear TWS clip right onto your ear like some kind of futuristic ear decoration (at a price of just Rs 1,999, the “future” part might be debatable). I spent my last week with these unconventional buds. And here’s my review about whether they clip into the audio bliss or clip out completely.

Urban Vibe Clip Review: Design and Build

Despite being on the budget side of the spectrum, the Vibe Clip doesn’t skimp on design or build quality. The interesting clip-on design attaches to your antihelix (the medical term for the outer part of your ear) and is both unique and practical. To wear the Vibe clip, hook the cuff-shaped earbuds around the outside of your ear.

It ensures that you have a comfortable experience while allowing you to stay aware of your surroundings, making it perfect for activities like riding cycles or workouts in the open.

The build quality is impressive for its price. While it can’t compete with flagship counterparts, it certainly doesn’t feel cheap. The case has a sturdy hinge, and the earbuds themselves have a solid, premium feel. The IPX6 rating is a bonus, making these earbuds a reliable companion for fitness enthusiasts, though I’d recommend keeping them out of heavy rain.

Urban Vibe Clip Review: Audio Experience and Comfort

The first question that could come to anyone’s mind is: If these buds don’t block your ears, how good can the audio really be? I had the same question too. But once I clipped them on and hit play, my doubts vanished. The 14.3mm drivers deliver a rich, balanced sound and impressive highs and lows.

Yes, the bass is weaker, but that’s something you have to accept with these types of earbuds. Their design allows sound to leak out, reducing the bass impact. The open-ear design focuses on ambient awareness and comfort rather than blocking noise, which is needed for strong bass. Fortunately, the sound doesn’t leak much, so you won’t bother others unless the volume is very high.

Frequency Response 20 Hz (Min) – 20 kHz (Max)
Driver Unit 14.3 mm
Driver Type Dynamic
Environmental Noise Cancellation Yes
Other Features 3D Panoramic Surround Sound

When I took the buds outdoors, the performance held up well. I ventured into the heavy traffic wearing the Vibe clip and was still able to enjoy my favourite tunes without much compromise. Audiophiles might find it less appealing, but it’s more than sufficient for an average listener like me, who just wants good sound quality while staying aware of their surroundings. In terms of comfort, I have no complaints. I’ve worn the earphones at a stretch for about two hours but I did not face any sort of discomfort

Urban Vibe Clip Review: Connectivity

Connecting the earbuds is simple. Just enable Bluetooth on your phone, open the case of the earbuds, and tap on the Urban Vibe clip to connect. It connects seamlessly with my iPhone 13, so if you are on iOS, you need not worry about connectivity. The auto-connect feature works flawlessly, connecting the earbuds when I open the lid and disconnecting when I close it.

However, I did encounter a couple of hiccups too. There were instances where one bud would connect while the other failed, requiring a quick reset. Additionally, there was an incident where one earbud suddenly stopped working.

So while connecting the buds is simple, the overall connection stability could be improved.

Urban Vibe Clip Review: Battery Life

Urban claims up to 10 hours of playback time, but I found the earbuds lasting around seven to eight hours on a single charge. This is still respectable and sufficient for daily workouts. The USB-C charging port is convenient; a full charge takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. For most users, this means a weekly charge should suffice.

However, I think this device would be even better with a bit more battery life. Using it for two hours a day means recharging it before the end of the week. A little more battery support would really top it off nicely.

Verdict

So, is the Urban Vibe clip worth the money? If you’re looking for an open-ear TWS, the answer is “Yes.” It has a cool look that will definitely get noticed, and your friends will be curious about what’s on your ear. Despite being a budget TWS, it has solid build quality, good audio experience, and decent battery life. All these features, combined with a price tag of Rs 1,999, make the Vibe clip an attractive choice.

Furthermore, these earbuds don’t have any major competition in the Indian market at the moment. The only similar product is the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, which cost about Rs 26,000. Therefore, the Urban Vibe clip can be a good choice if you want to try this form factor without spending too much.
