The Nokia 8.1 was first launched in China in October 2018 as the Nokia X7, and the premium mid-range smartphone gained a lot of popularity. Hence, HMD Global decided to launch the phone in markets outside of China. The Nokia 8.1 succeeds the Nokia 8 (Review), and it features a 6.18-inch IPS LCD PureDisplay screen with Full HD+ resolution and HDR10. It has a 12MP+13MP dual-camera at the rear, with the primary sensor featuring OIS, dual-pixel PDAF, and Carl ZEISS lens. The 20MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture. The Nokia 8.1 is equipped with the Snapdragon 710 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. It runs Android One version of Android 9 Pie. There’s a variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The dual-SIM 4G LTE phone has all the latest connectivity features like gigabit Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port. The Nokia 8.1 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 3500mAh battery with 18W Quick Charge 3.0.
Pros: The Nokia 8.1 smartphone offers a good chipset, the Snapdragon 710. The phone also has an impressive dual-camera setup, even though competitors have better specs on paper. It also comes with stock Android which a lot of people prefer because it is devoid of annoying bloatware. The phone sports a 20MP front camera which is better than many of its rivals in the price segment.
Cons: The smartphone packs a 3500mAh battery, which may be insufficient for the typical user, given how much time we spend on our phones these days. The bathtub notch also seems a bit outdated as most phones these days have much smaller notches. Also, the display is an LCD panel and it is not difficult to find a phone equipped with an AMOLED display in this price range.

Nokia 8.1 expert Review
Summary: The Nokia 8.1 is a good all-rounder package but what makes it difficult to choose over the aggressive competition is the small capacity battery. Luckily it does support 18W fast charging so this might be something a buyer could overlook. All-in-all, the phone is still a good device in the sub-15k bracket.READ NOKIA 8.1 REVIEW

Nokia 8.1 vs. Nokia 8: Is It Really An Upgrade?
The Nokia 8 featured the Snapdragon 835 processor, while the Nokia 8.1 features a slower Snapdragon 710 processor. However, it’s enough for a phone to make it run smoother. RAM and internal storage remain the same, though, so there’s not much of a difference. The design looks similar, but the phone comes with Android 9 Pie pre-installed. The phone has a larger battery (close to 3500mAh battery) compared to the battery inside the Nokia 8. Have a look at the specifications comparison of the Nokia 8.1 and the Nokia 8 below.
