Sony has launched the RX10 V, its fifth-generation all-in-one superzoom camera, in India. It is designed for hobbyists, photography enthusiasts and wildlife shooters, the camera combines a long-range ZEISS zoom lens with AI-powered autofocus and high-speed shooting in a single body.
Sony RX10 V Specifications And Features
The RX10 V features a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T 24-600mm F2.4-4.0 lens with 25x optical zoom, covering everything from wide-angle photography to super-telephoto shots. The lens also supports macro photography from approximately 3cm at 24mm and tele-macro shooting from around 72cm at 600mm.
The camera uses a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels, paired with Sony's BIONZ XR image processor.
Sony has equipped the RX10 V with an AI processing unit that powers Real-time Recognition AF. The system can recognise humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes, while human pose estimation helps maintain tracking even when faces are partially obscured.
The camera can perform AF/AE calculations up to 60 times per second and supports blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30fps with full AF/AE tracking. This is aimed particularly at wildlife and sports photography, where subjects can move unpredictably.
For video, the RX10 V supports 4K 120p recording, enabling slow-motion footage at up to 5x when played back appropriately. It also features Active Mode image stabilisation for handheld recording.
The camera includes a Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio support for compatible microphones and an AI-powered Auto Framing feature that automatically keeps the subject positioned within the frame.
Sony also includes S-Cinetone and S-Log3, along with support for importing up to 16 user LUTs for monitoring footage while shooting in Log mode. The RX10 V features a 0.5-inch Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 3.68 million dots and 0.78x magnification. It is paired with a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 1.62 million dots. The camera uses Sony's NP-FZ100 rechargeable battery, which provides up to approximately 630 still images when shooting with the LCD monitor. Sony says this represents an improvement of around 50% or more compared with the previous RX10 IV.
The RX10 V also features a dust- and moisture-resistant design, Wi-Fi support and USB Type-C connectivity. The USB Type-C port supports data transfer as well as 4K 30p live streaming.
Sony RX10 V Price in India and Availability
The Sony RX10 V is priced at Rs 2,45,645 in India. It is available from today, through Sony authorised retail outlets, Sony Camera Lounge, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony Center, the ShopatSC portal, and major electronics stores and e-commerce platforms including Amazon and Flipkart.
