Whirlpool has launched its Luxuriem range of four-door refrigerators in India. The new 654-litre refrigerator uses three independent cooling systems for its refrigerator, convertible and freezer compartments, and can convert one compartment from freezer to refrigerator mode in under 30 minutes.
The Whirlpool Luxuriem carries a 3-star BEE energy rating and starts at Rs 98,000. Other highlights include more than 100 storage configurations, wide shelves designed for larger utensils and elevated crisper drawers that do not require users to bend down each time they need fresh produce.
Whirlpool Luxuriem Price and Availability in India
The Whirlpool Luxuriem is available in a 654-litre capacity, with prices beginning at Rs 98,000. It will be sold through leading online platforms and retail stores across India. Whirlpool has not shared the prices or availability details for the individual colour and finish options.
The refrigerator will be offered in Duo Noir, Nero Quartz, Dark Quantum, Rhodium Steel and Cosmos Black finishes, depending on the selected model.
Whirlpool Luxuriem Features and Specifications
The headline feature is Whirlpool's 360-degree Triple Cooling Technology. The refrigerator uses three evaporators, three cooling systems and three separate airflows for the refrigerator, convertible and freezer sections.
Each compartment can consequently maintain its own temperature and humidity conditions. Whirlpool claims the separation also prevents odours from transferring between fresh food, frozen items and the convertible compartment.
The convertible section can switch from freezer to refrigerator mode in under 30 minutes. Importantly, converting this compartment does not remove the refrigerator's dedicated freezer space. It can therefore be used to create additional room for beverages, party platters or fresh groceries while retaining space for frozen food, ice and desserts.
Whirlpool describes it as India's fastest convertible refrigerator system. The company also claims that the Luxuriem offers more than 100 customisable storage modes, although it has not detailed how these configurations are divided across the different compartments.
Nakul Tewari, Vice President of Marketing at Whirlpool of India, said the company developed the refrigerator after speaking with owners of large-capacity models. According to Tewari, common complaints included insufficient room for wide Indian utensils, slow convertible compartments and vegetable drawers that required users to bend frequently.
Four-Door Design Focuses on Larger Utensils and Easier Access
The four-door layout is designed to accommodate the larger vessels, serving dishes and bulk groceries commonly found in Indian kitchens. Wide-access shelves provide additional room for cookware and platters that can be difficult to fit inside some conventional side-by-side refrigerators.
Crisper drawers are positioned higher to provide easier access to fruits and vegetables. The shelves, trays and other storage components are interchangeable, allowing owners to reorganise the interior according to changing requirements.
Opening individual compartments instead of the entire refrigerator may also help limit the amount of cold air escaping during regular use. However, its actual impact on electricity consumption will depend on usage patterns and will need to be assessed independently.
Additional storage features include soft-close drawers, larger door bins, freezer bins for masalas, nuts and spices, a dedicated beverage rack and separate lighting for the freezer compartments.
Glass-and-Metal Finish and Obsidian Interiors
Selected Luxuriem models get Whirlpool's Duo Noir finish, which combines glass and metal across the exterior. Whirlpool describes it as an India-first design for the refrigerator category.
The refrigerator also features dark Obsidian interiors and Quad Theatre Lighting, which places illumination across multiple sections of the cabinet. Metal Cooling is included to help maintain the internal temperature when doors are opened frequently.
Whirlpool has also added iCare Expert support, which allows technicians to diagnose certain problems remotely over a phone call. The company says this can help identify the required repair or component before an engineer visits the customer.
At Rs 98,000, the Luxuriem is aimed at buyers already considering a large side-by-side or multi-door refrigerator. Its more relevant advantages are the independently cooled compartments and the ability to create extra refrigerator space without giving up the dedicated freezer. The under-30-minute conversion time, temperature consistency and usable storage for larger Indian utensils will be the important claims to examine during real-world testing.
