Sony India has expanded its premium personal audio portfolio with the launch of the 1000X THE COLLEXION over-ear headphones and the WF-1000XM6 true wireless earbuds. The new products celebrate 10 years of Sony's acclaimed 1000X series, a lineup that has consistently been regarded among the best in the premium noise-cancelling audio segment. Rather than focusing solely on hardware upgrades, Sony is positioning this launch around a more premium listening experience that blends luxury design, intelligent software, AI-powered features and studio-grade sound.
1000X Specifications And Features
Unlike a conventional refresh, the 1000X THE COLLEXION has been designed as a premium edition that combines refined aesthetics with enhanced comfort. Sony says the headphones feature premium metal accents, luxurious leather finishes, a wider headband, spacious ear cushions and a lightweight design aimed at reducing fatigue during long listening sessions. A magnetic carrying case also ships in the box for easier portability.
This special edition appears to target users who value both industrial design and premium craftsmanship alongside audio performance.
At the heart of the headphones is Sony's new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 paired with the Integrated Processor V3. Sony says the bespoke driver has been tuned in collaboration with award-winning mastering engineers under its "For the Music" initiative to reproduce music exactly as creators intended.
The headphones also come packed with premium audio features, including support for 360 Upmix across music, movies, and gaming for a more immersive listening experience. They are compatible with 360 Reality Audio, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Audio Wireless, while DSEE Ultimate enhances compressed audio files for improved sound quality. Users can also fine-tune the audio with a 10-band equaliser, along with dedicated Game EQ and Background Music (BGM) modes for customized listening. These additions aim to make the headphones equally suitable for music, movies and gaming.
Noise cancellation continues to be Sony's biggest selling point. The new headphones use 12 precision microphones, Multi Noise Sensor technology and the Adaptive Noise Cancelling Optimiser to continuously analyse surroundings and automatically adjust ANC levels in real time.
Sony has also introduced a Wind Noise Reduction Structure, helping maintain clearer audio while travelling or walking outdoors.
WF-1000XM6 Specifications And Features
Alongside the headphones, Sony also unveiled the WF-1000XM6, which the company claims delivers its best-ever noise cancellation in a true wireless earbud, with 25% better noise reduction than the WF-1000XM5. The earbuds feature Sony's new Auto Noise Cancelling Optimizer, while Auto Ambient Sound intelligently balances outside noise with music whenever required.
The earbuds are powered by the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e, paired with an improved DAC and amplifier to deliver richer, more detailed sound. Sony says the tuning has once again been developed alongside renowned music creators to preserve the original intent of every recording.
Sony has also upgraded call quality on the WF-1000XM6 using AI-driven voice pickup technology, intelligently directed microphones and a bone-conduction sensor to isolate the user's voice even in noisy environments.
Comfort has also received attention through a redesigned ergonomic shape that improves fit while enhancing passive noise isolation during extended listening sessions.
The WF-1000XM6 offers up to 24 hours of battery life with the charging case and supports quick charging, providing up to 50 minutes of playback from just five minutes of charging. It also supports Qi wireless charging, Battery Care through the Sony Sound Connect app, microphone mute controls directly from the earbuds, and sweat and splash resistance for workouts and daily commuting.
Price and Availability
Sony has announced the following pricing:
- 1000X THE COLLEXION – Rs. 59,990
- WF-1000XM6 – Rs. 29,990
Both products will be available in Black and Platinum, while the WF-1000XM6 will also be offered in Silver. Sales begin on August 7, 2026.
Sony continues to occupy one of the strongest positions in the premium audio segment, competing directly with products like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, Apple AirPods Max, Apple AirPods Pro, Sennheiser Momentum series and Technics flagship audio products.
Instead of chasing flashy specifications alone, Sony continues to build its identity around intelligent noise cancellation, accurate sound reproduction and practical everyday features. The addition of Google Gemini integration, scene-aware listening and AI-assisted calling shows that premium headphones are increasingly becoming smarter personal devices rather than simple audio accessories.
If your priority is best-in-class active noise cancellation, premium build quality and a balanced sound signature, Sony's latest flagship lineup continues to be among the safest choices in the premium audio space. The 1000X THE COLLEXION targets buyers looking for luxury finishes and long listening comfort, while the WF-1000XM6 brings flagship ANC and studio-grade tuning into a more compact form factor.
Neither product is inexpensive, but both are clearly aimed at users who spend several hours every day listening to music, taking calls or travelling.
What stands out is that Sony isn't relying only on improved hardware anymore. AI-powered call quality, adaptive listening modes, Google Gemini integration and personalised software experiences show that premium headphones are evolving into intelligent companions rather than standalone audio devices. If Sony can continue balancing excellent sound quality with genuinely useful smart features, the 1000X series is likely to remain one of the strongest recommendations in the premium audio segment for years to come.
