Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series India Prices Start at Rs 1,29,999; Sales Begin October 7

Samsung has announced Indian pricing for the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, with the premium tablets starting at Rs 1,29,999 and Rs 1,49,999, respectively. Both go on sale on October 7 with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and an included S Pen. Samsung is also extending its Galaxy Forever ownership programme to tablets for the first time.

With prices starting well above Rs 1 lakh, the series is aimed at buyers who expect their tablet to handle more than streaming and browsing. Samsung's pitch centres on multitasking, creative applications and long software support, while the choice between the two models largely comes down to screen size and portability rather than a difference in processing power.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series Price and Availability

The Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra will be available in Gray and Silver through Samsung.com, Samsung Exclusive Stores, partner stores and other online platforms. Both offer 12GB RAM, a choice of 256GB or 512GB storage, and Wi-Fi or 5G connectivity.

Configuration Galaxy Tab S12+ Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
Wi-Fi, 12GB + 256GB Rs 1,29,999 Rs 1,49,999
Wi-Fi, 12GB + 512GB Rs 1,49,999 Rs 1,69,999
5G, 12GB + 256GB Rs 1,44,999 Rs 1,64,999
5G, 12GB + 512GB Rs 1,64,999 Rs 1,84,999

The Pro Keyboard Cover is sold separately at Rs 26,499 for the Plus and Rs 27,999 for the Ultra. Before offers, that takes the base tablet-and-keyboard combination to Rs 1,56,498 and Rs 1,77,998, respectively. The S Pen, however, is included with both tablets.

Samsung has announced bank cashback of up to Rs 5,000 and an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 5,000. No-cost EMI options extend to 24 months through participating banks and NBFC partners.

Additional multi-buy benefits include Rs 15,000 off eligible tablet-and-Galaxy-smartphone purchases, 15% off eligible Galaxy Buds purchases with a tablet, and 30% off the Pro Keyboard Cover when bought with a tablet. These are conditional bundle benefits rather than reductions available on every standalone purchase.

The Ultra Premium Buys More Screen Space

Both tablets use the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and support microSD expansion up to 2TB. Samsung claims improvements of 19% in CPU performance, 17% in GPU performance and 61% in NPU processing over the predecessor, although these are company figures rather than independently tested results.

The main differences are in the display, battery and physical footprint.

Specification Galaxy Tab S12+ Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
Display 12.6-inch AMOLED, 2800 × 1752, 120Hz 14.6-inch AMOLED, 2960 × 1848, 120Hz

The Ultra costs Rs 20,000 more than an equivalent Plus configuration. Its larger screen should provide more room for a video timeline, drawing canvas or multiple open windows, but the Wi-Fi model is also 139g heavier before adding a cover. For someone carrying the tablet daily or frequently using it handheld, the Plus could be the more practical option without sacrificing the processor or RAM.

Both support a three-section Multi Window layout, allowing users to keep notes, a lecture and another application open together. They also feature quad speakers, IP68-rated dust and water resistance, and a redesigned vapour chamber for heat dissipation.

Samsung claims battery life of up to 23 hours for the Ultra and 21 hours for the Plus under laboratory conditions. These figures should not be treated as expected runtimes for continuous gaming, editing or heavy multitasking.

Creative Apps Strengthen Samsung's Productivity Pitch

The tablets run Android 17 with One UI 9. Samsung promises up to seven OS upgrades, alongside security updates, giving long-term software support a prominent role in the purchase proposition.

Galaxy AI features include Note Assist for summarising notes, while Samsung Browser can summarise open tabs and surface relevant sources. The series also comes with a six-month Google AI Pro trial.

The broader software package is particularly relevant at these prices. Adobe Photoshop is pre-installed with four months of Photoshop mobile plan access, while Goodnotes includes one year of free access. Other benefits include a six-month Clip Studio Paint trial, a discount on its first subscription, and a 66% discount on LumaFusion.

This positions the tablets around work that benefits from a touchscreen and pen, including annotation, illustration and image editing. The trial periods are worth distinguishing from permanently included software, however, since continued access to paid features can add to ownership costs.

Galaxy Forever Brings an Upgrade Programme to Tablets

Samsung's Galaxy Forever programme is available through Samsung Finance+ at Samsung Exclusive Stores and Samsung.com. The pack costs Rs 12,499 and includes Samsung Care+ protection against accidental and liquid damage for up to two years, with no claim processing fees.

Under the announced structure, customers pay 75% of the device price plus the programme fee over 24 EMIs. Samsung lists an assured buyback value of 40% for returns or upgrades between months 11 and 13, and 25% between months 14 and 24, subject to terms.

.The programme and multi-buy offers also reveal Samsung's wider strategy. Alongside selling a premium tablet, the company is encouraging customers to buy across its Galaxy portfolio and consider a planned upgrade cycle. That can be useful for an existing Galaxy user making several purchases, but the bundle savings matter only if those additional products were already needed.

At These Prices, the Apps Need to Justify the Hardware

The Tab S12+ appears to offer the more balanced combination for buyers who want the series' processing power, S Pen and multitasking features in a lighter device. The Ultra makes a clearer case for people who will regularly use its extra screen space for drawing, editing or desk-based work.

At these prices, the comparison naturally extends to premium iPads and laptops. The deciding factor should be whether the applications and workflows a buyer relies on work comfortably on the tablet. An included S Pen and a large AMOLED screen have clear value for pen-based work; adding a keyboard alone does not establish that a tablet can replace someone's computer.

For prospective buyers, checking the complete cost of the tablet, keyboard and ongoing app subscriptions will be more useful than focusing on the largest advertised offer.
