ASUS Introduces the ProArt P16: A Creator Laptop Built for Heavy Workloads

Within a decade, India has seen a significant rise in demand for content creators as a career path. According to the recent YouTube India–SmithGeiger report, 83 percent of Gen Z consider themselves creative professionals. That's where Asus has stepped in with its brand-new ProArt P16 laptop, a machine geared towards this new generation of professionals. This laptop is equipped with features that suggest it is engineered to handle the daunting workflow involved in content creation.

At its heart lies the AMD AI 9 HX 370 processor, which handles every operation. The main highlight of this chipset is that it integrates a powerful XDNA 2 AI engine (NPU). This enables the ProArt P16 to run advanced AI features directly on the device, thereby ramping up tasks such as photo or video editing. It combines this with 12 high-performance “Zen 5” cores for elite multitasking and strong Radeon 890M integrated graphics, offering incredible gaming and creative work capabilities.

Aside from this, the processor is paired with a 64GB LPDDR5X RAM and a 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Interestingly, Asus has provided an empty slot for further storage expansion.

That said, Asus has also included a dedicated graphics card, up to the NVIDIA GeForce 5090 Laptop GPU, inside the ProArt P16 machine to handle graphically intensive tasks, such as video editing or 3D modelling and rendering, better.

If we focus on the NVIDIA GeForce 5090 GPU-powered variant, it transforms the laptop into an elite mobile workstation. The massive 24GB of ultra-fast GDDR7 VRAM is crucial, allowing creators to handle complex 8K video timelines and massive 3D models without stutter. Its new architecture features 5th-gen Tensor cores, which utilise AI to facilitate creative tools and power DLSS 4 for extremely high frame rates in games. Furthermore, its 4th-gen Ray Tracing cores deliver photorealistic lighting in both 3D renders and supported games.

The combined power of a capable CPU and GPU also paves the way for nifty Copilot+ PC capabilities, NVIDIA RTX AI acceleration, and exclusive ASUS AI tools on this Asus laptop.

However, all this computing strength is only as good as what it can be seen, which is why ASUS has equipped the ProArt P16 with a display tuned for colour accuracy and clarity. On the front, this laptop features a 16.0-inch OLED panel with a 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Wait, there's more to this screen.

ASUS ProArt P16 display

It supports VESA-certified Display HDR True Black 1000 and boasts a 100% DCI-P3 Colour Gamut. As a result, it offers deeper blacks, richer contrast, and exceptional colour accuracy to content creators, crucial for grading footage, retouching photos, or reviewing high-detail 3D renders. As an added advantage, the ProArt P16 screen supports precision touch inputs.

In addition to this, the display houses an FHD ASUS AiSense web camera with an IR function, making this laptop compatible with Windows Hello features.

Beyond the visuals, the ProArt P16 also offers a solid selection of ports and connectivity options, which are listed below:

Connectivity 1x USB 4.0 40 Gbps Type-C support display/power delivery

1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support display/power delivery

2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A

1x HDMI 2.1 FRL

1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack

1x DC-in

SD Express 7.0 card reader

Asus has packed all these features into a metal chassis that meets the US military-grade durability standards, allowing creators to work in any habitable environment. However, what's truly special about the design of the ProArt P16 is that it weighs only 1.95 kg, despite being armed with a robust suite of features.

The wealth of features has made it clear that Asus has built the ProArt P16 laptop with these modern creative entrepreneurs in mind. However, an individual has to spend ₹3,59,990 to get their hands on this mighty machine. This selling cost positions the Asus laptop in direct competition with gaming laptops, such as the MSI Raider 18 HX AI or Asus-owned ROG Strix SCAR 16.

While the MSI Raider 18 HX AI boasts the raw power of the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX, its massive 18-inch footprint place it in a different class. A fairer comparison is the 16-inch ROG Strix SCAR 16, running on the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor. Even here, the ProArt holds a distinct advantage. The Core Ultra 9 275HX is a power-hungry chip that requires a thicker, heavier chassis for cooling, resulting in the SCAR 16 weighing nearly 2.7 kg. In contrast, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor prioritises exceptional performance per watt, allowing the ProArt P16 to deliver similar screen real estate in a much slimmer, 1.95 kg portable form factor.

Asus deserves credit for consistently supporting India's fast-growing creator community with devices that genuinely address real workflow needs. The ProArt P16 reflects this commitment with thoughtful engineering that blends power, portability, and precision. From its AI-backed performance to its colour-accurate 4K OLED display and creator-focused software, every element is shaped to help users work faster and with more confidence. Its lightweight yet durable build, strong connectivity, and option for a top-tier NVIDIA GPU further strengthen its appeal. For creators seeking a dependable and high-performance machine, the ProArt P16 stands out as a well-rounded choice.
