Dell has expanded its laptop line-up in the US with the new Dell 14S, Dell 16S and Alienware 15. As of writing, Dell has not shared India pricing or availability for these models. The 14S and 16S are positioned as slim mainstream laptops for productivity, entertainment and on-device AI workloads, while the Alienware 15 is aimed at gamers who want Alienware hardware at a lower starting price than the company's higher-end Aurora and Area-51 machines.
Dell 14S and Dell 16S bring Intel Core Ultra 9 386H and Ryzen AI options
The Dell 14S and Dell 16S can be configured with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, going up to the Core Ultra 9 386H. Dell says the chips include on-device AI acceleration with up to 50 TOPS from the NPU. The laptops will also be available with AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series processors later this month.
Dell is claiming a sizeable generational performance uplift, but the context matters. The company says the Dell 14S offers up to 97% higher multitasking performance, while the Dell 16S offers up to 59% higher multitasking performance versus the previous generation. Both figures are based on Dell's internal Cinebench R24 multi-core testing, so independent benchmarks will be needed before drawing firm conclusions.
Both laptops use a 15.3 mm metal design, with the Dell 14S starting at 1.45 kg and the Dell 16S starting at 1.76 kg. The two models will be offered in Celestial Blue and Frost Blue colour options, with backlit keyboards, enhanced airflow, military-grade testing and recycled materials in the chassis and packaging.
Display options include FHD+ panels with up to 400 nits brightness, QHD+ panels with up to 120 Hz refresh rate, up to 500 nits brightness, 100% sRGB coverage and Dolby Vision support. OLED options are also available, with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, deeper blacks and ComfortView Plus support. Audio is handled by Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers with Smart Amplifier technology.
Battery life is one of Dell's bigger claims here. The Dell 14S is rated for up to 24 hours of productivity use and up to 18 hours of streaming, while the Dell 16S is rated for up to 26 hours of streaming and up to 14 hours of productivity use. As usual, these figures are based on Dell's controlled testing at 150 nits brightness, so real-world endurance will depend heavily on configuration, screen type and workload.
Alienware 15 targets mainstream gamers with RTX 5060 graphics
The Alienware 15 sits below the Aurora and Area-51 laptops in Dell's gaming portfolio. It gets a 15.3-inch 16:10 WUXGA display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, along with CPU options from both AMD and Intel. Buyers can choose between AMD Ryzen 7 260 and Ryzen 5 220 processors, or Intel Core 7 240H and Core 5 210H chips.
Graphics options include Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 5050 and RTX 4050 GPUs with DLSS support. Dell says configurations with the RTX 5050 or RTX 5060 can reach up to 110 W total performance power in Performance Mode. An RTX 3050 option is also expected in select regions after initial availability.
The laptop uses Alienware's Cryo-tech cooling system with two fans, three copper heat pipes and a rear exhaust. There is also a Cryo-Chamber structure on RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 configurations, designed to focus airflow towards key components. A Stealth Mode hotkey on F7 lets users switch from Performance mode to Quiet mode when lower noise is more important than maximum output.
Dell has also made the Alienware 15 more practical than some of its older gaming designs. The rear thermal shelf has been removed, and the laptop now includes a 180-degree hinge, an HD webcam with dual-array microphones, stereo speakers, a full-size backlit keyboard with numpad and a large fingerprint-resistant touchpad. Ports include RJ45, HDMI, two USB-A 3.2 ports, two USB-C 3.2 ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Durability is also part of the pitch. Dell says the Alienware 15 has been tested for 20,000 hinge cycles, 40,000 keyboard keystrokes, liquid spills of up to two ounces and drops from up to 18 inches on all six faces and four corners. These are internal Dell test figures, but they do suggest the company is treating this as a daily-use gaming laptop rather than a purely desk-bound machine.
The Dell 14S starts at $1,269.99, while the Dell 16S starts at $1,319.99. The Alienware 15 is available now in the US via its official website, starting at $1,299 for the AMD model and $1,349 for the Intel model. Dell has not announced Indian pricing or availability for any of these laptops yet.
