India’s Oscar entry in 2022, Koozhangal (Pebbles) is finally making its OTT debut. Sony Liv has announced the release date of the movie on its Twitter handle. It will bring the movie on October 27 on its platform. The movie never had a theatrical or OTT release. When it took up the coveted Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in February, this festival film grabbed headlines.
The movie doesn’t take the conventional route of having a beginning and an end. The movie is set in and around the Director and Writer of the movie PS Vinothraj’s Madurai hamlet Arittapatti. There are no trees or bodies of water in the hard, oppressively hot environment. Arittapatti continues to be quite primitive despite the nation’s general development.

An abusive, alcoholic husband’s relationship with his deserting wife is the subject of the true story “Koozhangal.” The narrative is delivered from the perspective of their little child. The story of “Koozhangal’s” creation is moving. Due to a shortage of funding, Vinothraj had trouble finishing the movie. With a rough cut, the team submitted an application for the 2019 NFDC Film Bazaar. It got a place in the Film Bazaar Recommends section. The well-known Tamil filmmaker Ram expressed his admiration for the trailer during one of the Bazaar’s meetings. He saw the movie and convinced Nayantara and Vignesh Shivan to do the same. They agreed to produce it because they liked it, and Yuvan Shankar Raja chose to compose the music. Chellapandi, Karuththadaiyaan, and Phillip Arulodss play the lead in the movie.
