The iPhone 15 Series seems to have been well received by Apple users globally. The company started accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Series today and is already experiencing a huge demand for the new iPhones. Apple will start shipping devices starting from September 22.

However, the demand for the iPhone 15 Pro has been so high that Apple has delayed the shipments for up to 2 months. Users from all over the world who pre-booked the iPhone 15 Pro are reporting at least a 6- to 8-week delay in their delivery schedule.

iPhone 15 Pro Orders Delayed Up To 8 Weeks Worldwide

It has not been a day since Apple started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 15 Series. Within this short span, the demand for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max appears to have exceeded Apple’s expectations.

Apple users have taken the internet by storm as millions of users are reporting a delay in the shipment of their iPhone 15 Pro orders. People who have pre-booked the Pro model iPhones this year are witnessing delivery dates as far as November.

Mark Gurman reports that iPhone 15 Pro Max orders have been delayed up to 8 weeks in India, China, UK, and Canada. The delay is applicable for both home deliveries and in-store pickups of the new iPhones.

Even the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus orders are getting delayed up to 2 weeks in some markets. It looks like the upgrades made by Apple in the iPhone 15 Series have attracted a lot of users towards the new iPhone. Even though the iPhone 15 Pro is priced at a 60% premium in India, the higher-end variant is also in huge demand in the country.

Titanium Frame, 3nm Processor: Manufacturing iPhone 15 Pro Is Challenging for Apple

Apple has used a titanium frame on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The company uses anodization to colour the metallic frame of the iPhones. However, it is extremely difficult to anodize titanium as it requires a highly controlled environment.

As per Counterpoint Research, Apple manufactures the Pro models exclusively in China currently. Hence, the company does not have any other alternative source to ramp up the production of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max. However, for regular models, Apple has factories in India and Vietnam which help to boost production when orders start surging.

Another challenge in the iPhone 15 Pro manufacturing is its processor. The A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro is based on a 3nm architecture. Apple is exclusively relying on TSMC for the production of this chip. However, TSMC only has a 55% yield for manufacturing 3nm processors because of its complexity.

Apple has also bought all production slots of TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing up to December 2023. This means that Apple cannot manufacture the A17 Pro any faster. Hence, the delay in the shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max orders is going to last for a while.
