The MSI G274F is an excellent entry point into the world of gaming monitors. It’s a value-for-money monitor that’s also blazing fast — which is what most gamers demand. Especially, if you are into FPS games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, and more. The G274F is mainly targeted towards e-sports gaming, for a more competitive edge in big tournaments. That said, this is a great option for entry-level gamers craving for a fast refresh rate panel, without having to shell a lot.
It spans 27 inches and comes with a price tag of Rs 15,499. After using it for over a month, I can say this is a bang-for-the-buck gaming monitor. But, is it the right choice for you? Let me help you with more details in this review.
MSI G274F Gaming Monitor Review: Pricing and Availability in India
The MSI G274F can be bought from Amazon India and MDComputers. As of writing this review, the monitor is not readily available in stock on the latter. The price difference between the two is also quite decent, so do keep an eye out for stock. You can also possibly crack a good deal in physical stores.
| Platform | Price |
| Amazon India | Rs 15,499 |
| MDComputers | Rs 13,800 |
MSI G274F Gaming Monitor Review: Setup Process
The setup process of the MSI G274F is pretty straightforward. It comes packaged very neatly in a compact box, which includes all the contents. You get the display, the arm, and the bottom plate. Setting up the monitor barely takes about 10-15 minutes, especially if you already have experience with these things. Inside the box, you will also find a HDMI cable, a power connector, and some paperwork to get things started.
MSI G274F Gaming Monitor Review: Design, Build and Ports
The MSI G274F has a very minimalistic design that blends well with the desk setup. The 27-inch size of the monitor does not make it awkward to deal with when sitting close to the desk. The monitor doesn’t lean too heavily into the typical gaming aesthetic. It has a few subtle design elements at the back and an MSI logo. It lacks any sort of RGB lighting, but that’s something I usually don’t find very amusing on monitors. What’s more commendable is the foot of the stand. It’s comparatively smaller than what most 27-inch monitors come with. This gives me more space on the desk to store useless junk.
| Design | Specifications |
| Dimensions | 23.1 x 61.3 x 47.2 cm |
| Weight | 5.3 kg; without stand: 3.95kg |
| VESA mount | 75 x 75 mm |
| Tilt adjustment | -5° ~ 20° |
| Ports | Display Port: 1920 x 1080 (Up to 180Hz)
HDMI (x2): 1920 x 1080 (Up to 180Hz) Audio port, and DC port |
The stand is also quite sturdy, so it does not topple upon accidental knocks. It also accommodates a small hole which can be used to route cables, helping you keep the desk slightly cleaner. The display can be tilted in any direction, but you cannot adjust the height which is a huge bummer for me. This is a basic feature which should have been incorporated to make things much easier.
The major chunk of the front is taken up by the display — which is exactly what you would expect. It has minimal bezels on all the sides, except for the bottom chin which holds the MSI logo. The port department is also quite rich, and you can reach a 180Hz refresh rate with the HDMI port too. All of this is located at the back of the monitor, it’s slightly tough to reach this without looking at the labels. There’s also a 5-way OSD joystick at the back, this one’s easier to reach.
MSI G274F Gaming Monitor Review: Display Quality and Gaming Experience
The MSI G274F performs splendidly across all the departments. Its major focus is on gaming, and the 180Hz refresh rate certainly helps you get an edge in fast-paced games. With a resolution of 1080p, this monitor should suffice for most gamers running a budget build. If you want a 1440p or 4K monitor, you’ll have to shell out slightly more.

| Display | Specifications |
| Size | 27-inch (69cm) |
| Resolution | 1920 x 1080 |
| Refresh rate | 180Hz |
| Brightness | Claimed: 250 nits, Tested: 301 (HDR) |
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 |
| Response rate | 1ms (GtG) |
| Viewing angles | 178° (H) / 178° (V) |
| Colour gamut | Adobe RGB, sRGB, DCI-P3 |
| Colour bit | 8 bits (6 bits + FRC) |
This resolution is more than enough to run FPS games such as Counter-Strike 2, Concord, Apex Legends, Valorant, and more. The G274F is also Nvidia G-Sync enabled, so you won’t face any screen tearing or flickers when playing games. It also comes with an anti-glare coating, so if there’s a tube light placed right across your monitor, you won’t be facing any problems. It also has great viewing angles, so if you plan on playing co-op games on the monitor, this won’t let your friendly opponent give you any excuses.
The monitor also gives you plenty of options to tweak the image quality and colour. You can also switch between the colour gamuts, using the OSD settings. You can also switch between different presets such as Movie, Office, Eco, and more.
The MSI G274F also has support for HDR, but the rated peak brightness is 250 nits — which is not very bright for an HDR display. That said, it did reach about 301 nits in my test. It’s not great, but HDR availability on a gaming monitor at this price is commendable.
The MSI G274F did justice to visually stunning games such as Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The opening scene of the former was also displayed spectacularly without a hint of screen tearing. The monitor is not purely for games, you can use it to watch movies and also edit videos. TV Shows such as The Big Bang Theory and The Haunting of Bly Manor looked great on the display. The colours are produced well, without too much oversaturation, but the blooming in darker scenes is easily visible since this is not an OLED panel.
MSI G274F Gaming Monitor Review: Verdict
The MSI G274F is a very straightforward choice for gamers looking to buy a Full HD monitor on a budget. It does not aggressively scream gamer with its design aesthetics, but it ticks almost all the right boxes.
It’s got a 27-inch display, a fast refresh rate and a response rate which should aid gamers. The monitor also has great viewing angles, HDR capabilities, and a healthy set of ports, which is good. The setup process is also quite swift and can be done without extra help. MSI has also made sure you keep your desk tidy with a nifty cable routing hole on the stand. However, the absence of a height adjustment slider is quite a bummer.
At Rs 15,499, the MSI G274F is mainly targeted towards e-sports gamers, but honestly, any casual gamer who needs a reliable and fast display can easily opt for this.
