Huawei announced its upgraded proprietary skin EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie at IFA 2018. Since then, the program has expanded to include 11 new devices in the list that would be eligible for the update in the future. Currently, Huawei is in the testing phase of EMUI 9.0 with a number of handsets like the Huawei P10, Mate 9, Nova 3 and 2S, Honor 9 on board as well. However, the beta phase is currently restricted to the Chinese market with the above-mentioned devices. Today, Honor’s mid-range handset, the Honor 9 Lite appeared on Geekbench with Android Pie. There are some global variants as well that are getting the beta updates.
As far as the Indian market is concerned, Huawei did recently send invites to commence a beta program for the Honor Play, Honor 10 and Honor V10. These users are receiving EMUI 9.0 with Android Pie currently. However, the Honor 9 Lite with Android 9.0 on Geekbench is a surprise. It is possible that beta testing might have just begun for the handset.
Aside from the Android Pie info, there’s nothing new to see on the Geekbench listing. The Honor 9 Lite is currently discounted in India and it was one of the few handsets to launch with Android Oreo out of the box.
