Update 1 (March 15th at 4:30 PM): Just a few days after getting certified by Bluetooth SIG and Singapore’s IMDA, the upcoming OPPO Reno smartphone was certified by Taiwan’s NCC today. Thanks to the smartphone’s NCC certification, it is now confirmed that it will arrive with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. However, some recent reports have suggested Reno may be available with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A Lamborghini edition is said to be in the works as well, packing 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Apart from the smartphone’s memory configuration, the NCC certification also confirms the presence of a USB Type-C port and NFC support. No other details have been confirmed by the Taiwanese independent statutory agency. According to a new rumor, OPPO Reno may come equipped with a Dynamic AMOLED display featuring Full HD+ resolution and HDR10+ support. Under the hood, the smartphone is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset. However, some other reports suggest it will instead be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset. In the camera department, the upcoming smartphone will have a triple camera setup at the rear with a Sony IMX586 48MP primary sensor.

Earlier today, OPPO announced a new product line dubbed ‘Reno’ in China. The first smartphone to be released under this new line has been certified by the IMDA agency in Singapore as well as the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). While the IMDA certification tells us the Reno product line will not remain exclusive to China, the Bluetooth certification sheds light on some of the key specifications of the upcoming smartphone.

First Reno Smartphone With Model Number ‘CPH1917’ Certified by IMDA, Bluetooth SIG

The IMDA has certified the upcoming CPH1917 smartphone from OPPO and confirmed that it will be launched under the new ‘Reno’ product line. However, it still remains to be seen if the first Reno smartphone will simply be marketed as ‘Reno’. The smartphone’s Bluetooth certification tells us that the first Reno phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s 10nm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor under the hood and a feature a 6.4-inch Full HD+ resolution display. In the camera department, the upcoming smartphone will feature a 48MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a single 16MP selfie camera on the front. On the software front, OPPO’s first ‘Reno’ smartphone will be running on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie. As confirmed by OPPO, the first ‘Reno’ phone will be launched in China on April 10. We can expect OPPO to continue teasing the upcoming device on Weibo in the days to come. Similar to the Realme sub-brand launched in India last year, the upcoming ‘Reno’ product line will be targeted at the youth in China.

In addition to the first Reno smartphone, Singapore’s IMDA has also granted certification to the OPPO AX5s with model number CPH1920. As suggested by its name, the AX5s will be a successor to the AX5 budget Android smartphone launched by OPPO last year. Apart from its marketing name, however, there is nothing else that is known regarding the OPPO AX5s currently.
