Samsung is gearing up for the upcoming Unpacked event in Seoul. The company will announce its new foldable phones, alongside a few other products, such as the Galaxy Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Watch 6 series at the event. Samsung will launch two foldable phones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The teasers have already started dropping ahead of the July 26 event. Samsung has now released a short video on YouTube that insists people to “Join the flip side.”
The video begins with Samsung highlighting various features of the Galaxy Flip 4 launched last year, including the Flex mode. At the end of the video, there is a glimpse of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5’s rumoured bigger cover display. Samsung has not explicitly revealed the design of the upcoming clamshell-style foldable phone just yet. However, going by the teaser, it looks like the rumours are true.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to get many upgrades this year. While the video does not reveal all the upgrades, Samsung might drop more teasers soon. A separate teaser on Samsung’s social media handles shows the frame of the foldable phone, which is similar to the outgoing model. We can also see the power and volume keys on the right side of the foldable phone. There are antenna lines on the frame, suggesting the use of metal for the chassis. The power button also seems to be doubling up as a fingerprint reader.
More details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have leaked as well in the past. Here’s a quick look at what we know so far.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Everything Leaked So Far
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will likely get some major design changes this year. The highlight upgrade will mostly be the massive cover display. According to rumours, almost half of the rear panel will have a 3.4-inch cover display. The screen will be slightly smaller than the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, which was launched recently.
On the inside, the foldable phone is likely to sport a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. Samsung is likely to use a new waterdrop hinge to reduce the gap when the phone is folded. Also, the crease is likely to be less visible this time around.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rumoured to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for Galaxy. It will likely have a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz. The foldable phone is also tipped to offer 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
On the outside, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will sport a dual-camera setup. It might feature two 12MP camera sensors. One of the sensors will be the primary wide camera, whereas the other might shoot ultra-wide photos. For selfies, the phone might get a 12MP front camera inside the hole-punch cutout at the top centre of the foldable display.
The device might also feature a 4400mAh battery under the hood with 15W/ 25W charging support. Lastly, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will likely boot Android 13-based One UI 5.1 out of the box.
