Vivo was the top-selling phone brand in India in Q1 2024 with a market share of 19%. The boost in sales came from the company’s focus on 5G devices and innovative camera solutions across the mid-range and premium segment. Vivo has a strong portfolio of affordable 5G devices under Rs 15,000, and its V-Series is also gaining popularity in the Rs 25,000 price segment.

Xiaomi has also bounced back after a few slow months. It remained the second most selling phone maker in India with a market share of 18.8%. Samsung took the third spot and has a diverse portfolio of affordable, mid-range, and top-end flagships. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is currently the most selling Android flagship, coming with advanced cameras and generative AI features.

Samsung and Apple took the first and second positions, respectively, as the most-valued smartphone brand in India, followed by Vivo and Xiaomi.

In addition to these legacy top four brands, Motorola, Nothing, and Transsion (Infinix and Tecno) saw significant growth during the same period. Nothing was the fastest-growing brand in India, which recently launched the mid-range Nothing Phone (2a). Motorola’s G-Series helped the company grow by 54% YoY. Infinix and Tecno also witnessed healthy growth by offering premium specifications at around Rs 10,000.

Although Motorola, Nothing, and the Transsion Group are growing steadily in India, their sales numbers are not enough to be among the top players in the country. Overall smartphone shipments in India are expected to keep growing in 2024.
