The OPPO Reno Z is a cut-down variant of the OPPO Reno. It comes with a waterdrop notch screen instead of the OPPO Reno’s completely bezel-less screen. It has a slower processor but a higher resolution front-facing camera. The OPPO Reno Z features a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a waterdrop-shaped notch. It runs Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.0 UI and is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P90 processor, 6GB RAM, and 256GB storage. On the rear, there’s a 48MP+5MP dual-camera setup. The selfie camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels. Apart from a dual-SIM card slot and 4G LTE, there’s GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The OPPO Reno Z is powered by a 3950mAh battery and it is compatible with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The OPPO Reno Z price in India could be somewhere around INR 27,000 if it launches in the country along with the OPPO Reno Z on May 28, 2019. This tentative pricing is for the base storage variant of the phone. The phone is pegged to launch in China with a price tag of CNY 2,599.

OPPO Reno Z Uses AMOLED Screen, Gradient Colors

The OPPO Reno Z has the same glass-and-plastic sandwich design with gradient color back as that of the OPPO Reno and the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition. There’s a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen at the front with Full HD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio), an under-display fingerprint reader and a waterdrop-shaped notch. In addition to the Star Purple color, the Reno Z will also be available in Extreme Night Black, Coral Orange, and Bead White colors.

48MP+5MP Dual-Camera On The Rear, 32MP Selfie Camera On The Front

The phone has a 48MP+5MP dual-camera setup on the rear. It’s the same 1/2-inch 48MP sensor (F1.7 aperture, 26mm wide-angle lens, PDAF, 0.8µm pixels) from Sony that’s being used by most brands in their mid-range and high-end smartphones. The 5MP sensor acts as a depth information gatherer to make it easier to produce images with DSLR-like shallow depth-of-field effect. The rear-facing camera setup can also record 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30 or 60fps. There’s a 32MP snapper on the front. This is a high-resolution camera sensor from Samsung, which uses 4-in-1 pixel binning feature that results in better images in low-light conditions. The selfie camera can record Full HD resolution videos at 30 frames per second.

MediaTek Helio P90 Is the OPPO Reno Z’s Brain

The OPPO Reno Z runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 software. Under the hood, the OPPO Reno Z uses a MediaTek Helio P90 chipset. There’s an octa-core 64-bit CPU in which two Cortex-A75 cores are clocked at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. There’s a PowerVR GM9446 GPU. In terms of memory, the smartphone will have 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. There’s no memory expansion capability since there’s no microSD card slot.

The OPPO Reno Z is fueled by a 3950mAh capacity battery, and there’s support for the company’s homegrown fast battery charging technology, VOOC 3.0. This fast charging technology supplies up to 20W of power to the OPPO Reno Z. The phone is fairly modern in terms of wired and wireless connectivity.
