
Vivo has launched its premium Vivo X80 series devices in India. The series includes two flagship devices – the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro (review). The non-pro variant in the series, Vivo X80 is the cheapest among the two and it is the first device in India to come with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 SoC. Apart from the processor, it features 80W fast charging, a 120Hz AMOLED display, a custom Vivo V1+ chip, Android 12, and more. While the Vivo X80 is mostly targeted for camera-centric users, it doesn’t miss out on other features. The device challenges the newly launched flagship devices, Xiaomi 12 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro in India.

The Vivo X80 comes in two storage configurations in India – 8GB+128GB priced at Rs 54,999 and 12GB+256GB variant priced at Rs 59,999. The company is offering a Rs 7,000 discount to HDFC bank card users on pre-booking the handset. It will be available on Flipkart, Vivo e-store, and major retail partners from May 25.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro price in India starts at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage option. The 12GB RAM and 256GB model come with a price tag of Rs 66,999. The phone is available for purchase from Flipkart, Xiaomi online store, and major retail stores across the country.
The OnePlus 10 Pro is priced at Rs 66,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant, while the 12GB+256GB model is priced at Rs 71,999. It is available on Amazon, Samsung’s official online store, and major retail stores across the country.
Vivo X80 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Design
Vivo has introduced a new refreshing design with the Vivo X80 series. It has a ceramic aluminium frame on the edges. On the back, it has a large square camera module that covers the top of the back panel. The camera module has a glossy finish which looks very attractive compared to other devices. The device has a matte finish on the back and comes in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue options.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro has a metal frame and offers a premium matte texture at the rear panel. It is made of a microcrystalline structure that offers self-healing for small scratches. The panel is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The front panel comes with a punch-hole cutout that houses a selfie camera. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is available in Gray, Purple, and Blue colour options.
The OnePlus 10 Pro comes with an aluminium frame and has matte glass on the back. There is a big camera module at the rear panel, which infuses well with the middle frame. The company has been claiming big on the weight distribution of the device. The brand has also added a ceramic lens cover that prevents the sensor from scratching. The phone is available in Green and Black colour options.
Vivo X80 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Display
The X80 features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ 3D curved AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and comes with up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro sports a 6.73-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz variable refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. It also features up to 1500 nits of peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Corning Gorilla Victus protection.
Similar to Xiaomi 12 Pro, the OnePlus 10 Pro also has a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ screen. However, it is a 3D flexible curved AMOLED LTPO 2.0 display with a screen resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels. The device also comes with up to 1,300 nits of brightness and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The handset has a Super-Res video option that enhances the image and video quality by up to four times.
Vivo X80 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Performance
The Vivo X80 is the first device in India to feature Mediatek’s flagship, the Dimensity 9000 processor. For your reference, the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the OnePlus 10 Pro pack Snapdragon’s top of the line, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. All three devices are equipped with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Apart from these, Vivo has also packed a V1+ chip on the Vivo X80 that helps in enhancing the battery life and camera performance.
The Vivo X80 runs on Android 12 based FunTouch OS 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro runs on Android 12 based MIUI 13 out of the box. The OnePlus 10 Pro boots on Oxygen OS 12.1 based on Android 12 out of the box.
Vivo X80 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Cameras
The Vivo X80 has a huge camera block on the back that houses a triple-camera setup. It has a 50MP main sensor along with a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP portrait sensor with 2x optical zoom. As mentioned above, the phone comes with Zeiss-tuned cameras and has a load of camera-centric modes in the Camera UI including cinematic video bokeh, style portrait, horizon level stabilization, and many more.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro features a 50MP Sony IMX707 triple-camera setup on the back which is accompanied by a 50MP wide-angle and a 50MP portrait lens. The handset comes with 8K video recording at 24fps along with a host of other features. The company has added a new Profocus mode that uses AI to focus on the subject automatically.
The OnePlus 10 Pro also comes with triple rear cameras. The handset offers a 48MP primary Sony IMX789 sensor, 50MP ultra-wide-angle and an 8MP telephoto lens. It is the first smartphone from the company that offers 10-bit colour photography from all three rear cameras. The company has once again worked with Hasselblad which brings a special Pro Mode that offers 12-bit RAW photography. Moreover, Movie Mode lets users adjust ISO, shutter speed, and more. All three devices have a 32MP front shooter for selfies and video calls.

Vivo X80 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Battery
The Vivo X80 has a 4500 mAh battery under the hood and supports 80W fast charging. However, it doesn’t support wireless charging which is available on the other smartphones in the similar price segment.
The OnePlus 10 Pro supports 80W fast charging and packs a 5,000mAh battery unit. It also comes with 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a 4,600mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support and 50W wireless charging support. The phone also comes with 10W reverse wireless charging support. It is the fastest charging device among the three phones.

The Vivo X80 comes with promising specifications and various camera modes that make the deal sweeten. The latest handset from Vivo looks good however, its competitors like the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the OnePlus 10 Pro pack a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, wireless charging support, fast charging, Quad HD+ display, and more. The Xiaomi 12 Pro has been listed with various offers many times which brings its price under Rs 55,000 and it makes the Xiaomi 12 Pro a perfect choice in this range.
