Cheapest Smartphone to Offer a 48MP Camera
It was only a couple of months ago that we started seeing 48MP cameras in smartphones. However, such smartphones were in the mid-range and high-end price category. Thanks to Redmi Note 7, we now have a 48MP camera smartphone in the entry-level price range. It is true that resolution is not everything, but when you compare the 48MP camera with the 12MP/13MP cameras that we find in most budget smartphones, the former is clearly better from a specification standpoint.
According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 7 will take 48MP photos if the lighting condition is good. However, if the lighting is poor, the 48MP camera on the Redmi Note 7 will combine four pixels into one to produce a 12MP image. According to the brand, combining the info from four pixels into one will provide a brighter and more detailed picture. Xiaomi has also announced that the Redmi Note 7 will get Super Night Scene mode with a software update, which will further enhance its lowlight photography.
Redmi Note 7 Could Be a Segment Leader
If the Redmi Note 7 launches with its expected price in India, there will be no other smartphone that could beat it in terms of hardware specifications. Currently, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is the segment leader. However, when you compare the Zenfone Max Pro M2 with the Redmi Note 7, it lacks a few features such as USB Type-C port, the 48MP camera, and Android 9 Pie operating system, all of which the Redmi Note 7 offers. Sure, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 has a large battery, but I think people would prefer having a USB Type-C port and a 48MP camera in exchange for slightly smaller battery capacity.
