Qualcomm Targets Budget Laptops With New AI-Ready Snapdragon C Processor

In a bid to democratise modern personal computing, Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon C Platform. This brand-new entry-tier chip is specifically engineered to bring efficient everyday performance to highly affordable laptops designed for families, students, and customer-facing small businesses. The architecture prioritises silent, fanless operation and exceptional power efficiency to ensure that users do not have to sacrifice battery longevity for a lower price point.

Rather than just focusing on basic tasks like web browsing, media streaming, and video conferencing, Qualcomm is positioning this platform as a modernisation tool for budget hardware. Most notably, the chip integrates a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), successfully introducing localised hardware-accelerated AI capabilities into the value segment of the market.

Kedar Kondap, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute and Gaming, noted the shift toward value: “Snapdragon C brings together value-oriented computing, all-day battery life, AI capabilities and responsive performance in cool-quiet devices…”

Major original equipment manufacturers—including Acer, HP, and Lenovo—are already actively developing hardware configurations centred around the new platform. While exact regional availability matrices and internal processor specifications remain under wraps for now, Qualcomm has confirmed that the first laptops powered by the Snapdragon C platform are scheduled to go on sale later this year.
