Google Expands Gemini Across Pixel Devices With New Creator Tools and Productivity Features

Google has announced its June Pixel Drop, introducing a mix of AI-powered creative tools, productivity upgrades, safety enhancements, and communication features across the Pixel ecosystem. The update also arrives alongside Android 17 and Wear OS 7, with features rolling out gradually over the coming weeks.

Unlike previous Pixel Drops that focused heavily on camera improvements, this release is centered around Gemini integration and making Pixel devices more capable for content creation, multitasking, and everyday communication.

Gemini Gets More Creative

Google is significantly expanding Gemini's capabilities with new video and music generation tools.

The biggest addition is Gemini Omni, which allows users to create and edit videos using natural language prompts. Users can combine text, photos, and videos from their gallery, remix existing content, or use templates to generate new videos. Google is also introducing AI avatars that can replicate a user's appearance and voice for personalized content creation.

Music generation is also arriving through Gemini 3. Users can create original songs simply by describing an idea or uploading an image. Gemini can generate music complete with lyrics while allowing users to customize genres, vocals, tempo, and style. The update reflects Google's broader strategy of positioning Gemini as a creative assistant rather than just a chatbot.

Screen Reactions Turn Screen Recordings Into Creator Tools

Pixel devices are getting a new Screen Reactions feature that combines screen recording with front-camera video capture.

The feature effectively creates a built-in reaction video tool, allowing users to record their screen while simultaneously appearing in a movable selfie-camera overlay. Google says the feature is aimed at creators, gamers, educators, and users creating tutorials or reaction content without needing third-party apps. Users can resize and reposition the selfie overlay while recording, creating a native "green screen" style experience directly on Pixel devices.

Better Multitasking With Bubbles

Google is also introducing Bubbles, allowing users to convert supported apps into floating windows that remain accessible over other applications.

The feature is designed to reduce app switching and improve multitasking. On the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, bubbles will be docked inside a dedicated bubble bar, enabling quick switching between apps while using the larger foldable display. For productivity-focused users, it brings Android closer to the multitasking experience commonly found on desktop operating systems.

Pixel Features Expand to More Devices

Google is bringing Voice Translate to the Pixel 10a.

The feature enables real-time speech-to-speech translation during phone calls while preserving the caller's voice. At launch, support is limited to English and Hindi in preview mode, making it particularly relevant for Indian users. Quick Share is also gaining compatibility with AirDrop on the Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a, improving file sharing between devices.

Call Screening Arrives in India

One of the most notable announcements for Indian users is the arrival of Manual Call Screen.

The feature allows users to screen unknown callers before answering. Google's Call Assist asks callers to state their name and the purpose of the call, with responses displayed on-screen before the user decides whether to answer. Google is also introducing Custom Greetings for Take a Message, allowing users to record personalized outgoing messages while still receiving live transcriptions of incoming voicemail responses. Given India's ongoing spam call problem, Call Screen could become one of the most useful additions in this update.

Emergency Features Become More Proactive

Google is expanding Emergency Sharing across its safety ecosystem.

Pixel devices can now automatically notify emergency contacts when features such as Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, or Loss of Pulse Detection are triggered. Alongside contacting emergency services, the phone can automatically alert designated family members or friends. Users can customize which emergency contacts receive alerts for specific situations through settings.

Pixel's AI Strategy Continues to Expand

The June Pixel Drop highlights Google's growing ambition to make Pixel devices showcases for Gemini-powered experiences.

While features such as Screen Reactions, Voice Translate, and Call Screen deliver practical day-to-day value, the biggest story is Google's continued push into AI-generated content through Gemini Omni and music creation tools. For Pixel users, this is one of the most feature-packed Pixel Drops in recent memory, combining creativity, productivity, communication, and safety improvements in a single update. The most immediately useful additions for Indian users are likely to be Manual Call Screen and English-Hindi Voice Translate, while creators will be watching closely to see how Gemini's new video generation capabilities perform in real-world use.
