Oppo has announced its latest ColorOS 16 September update, bringing several new features aimed at making it easier for users to organise, manage and browse their photo libraries. The update adds options such as photo timestamp adjustment, hidden customised albums, batch favourites and a new Scan Text feature, along with more flexible ways to view photos.
ColorOS 16 September Update Features
The latest update adds a Time Adjustment feature that allows users to edit the date and time associated with photos directly from the Photos app. This can be useful for correcting incorrect timestamps or organising older photos based on when they were actually captured.
Oppo is also giving users more control over how their photo libraries are displayed with the option to hide customised albums from the main Photos view. This allows selected albums to remain out of sight while giving users greater control over how their personal memories are organised.
The September update introduces Batch Favourites, allowing users to select multiple photos and add them to favourites at once instead of marking them individually. Oppo says the feature is designed to reduce the number of taps required when organising a large collection of photos. Another addition is Scan Text, which lets users extract text directly from photos with a single tap. The extracted content can then be copied, edited or shared. For documents, the feature can also rotate and straighten the image and remove glare or shadows to create a cleaner digital copy.
Users can now switch between Immersive and By Date views in Photos and Albums. The Immersive view is designed for visually browsing memories, while the By Date option makes it easier to locate specific photos based on when they were captured.
The September update also includes improvements to Private Safe and photo selection. Oppo says users can now add and organise files across different formats more easily, while changes to photo selection are designed to reduce accidental selections when browsing.
ColorOS 16 September Update Compatibility
According to the compatibility information shown on page 6 of the update document, the ColorOS 16 update is being rolled out in phases, starting September 1 and concluding by September 30. The listed devices include the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9s, Find X9, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Reno15 5G, Reno15 Pro 5G, Reno15 5G and Reno15 Pro 5G. The September ColorOS 16 update is less about introducing a major visual overhaul and more about making the everyday photo-management experience smarter and more flexible. Features like timestamp editing, batch favourites, Scan Text and flexible photo views address some of the small frustrations users encounter when managing large photo libraries.
