OPPO has confirmed that the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s will launch in India this May, marking a notable shift in its rollout strategy. Both devices were unveiled globally on April 21 across China, Southeast Asia, and Europe, and India is now part of the same launch cycle – something the company has not typically done before.
While OPPO has not announced an official launch date, leaks suggest that the devices could debut in India on May 15. If accurate, this would place the launch just weeks after their global unveiling. The Find X9 Ultra is expected to be the highlight of the lineup, positioned as OPPO's top-tier camera flagship.
OPPO Find X9 Ultra Expected Specifications
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is built around its camera system. It features a quad-camera setup developed in partnership with Hasselblad, including dual 200MP sensors – one for the primary camera and another for the 3x telephoto lens. The setup also includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP ultra-telephoto lens offering up to 10x optical zoom, 20x optical-quality zoom, and up to 120x digital zoom.
The device also supports advanced imaging features such as XPAN mode, 8K video recording, and 4K recording at 120fps with Dolby Vision. On the front, there is a 50MP autofocus camera designed for high-resolution selfies and video calls.
The Find X9 Ultra comes with a 6.82-inch QHD+ AMOLED display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Battery capacity is another key highlight. The smartphone packs a 7,050mAh battery, supported by 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It runs on ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box.
OPPO Find X9 Ultra Expected Pricing and Market Positioning
In China, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra starts at CNY 7,499 (approximately Rs 1,03,200) for the base variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. While India’s pricing has not been confirmed, it is expected to fall in a similar premium range, possibly adjusted for local market conditions.
The device will compete directly with other ultra-flagship smartphones, particularly those focusing on camera performance. One of its key rivals is expected to be the Vivo X300 Ultra, which also features a dual 200MP camera setup.
OPPO Find X9 Ultra: Should You Buy
With the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s joining the existing Find X9 and Find X9 Pro lineup in India, OPPO appears to be expanding its flagship portfolio to cover a broader range of users. The Ultra model is clearly aimed at those prioritising photography and top-end specifications.
For buyers considering a premium smartphone, the Find X9 Ultra could be worth waiting for, especially if camera performance is a priority. However, with competing flagships expected to launch around the same time, it may also make sense to compare options before making a final decision.
