POCO Expands Entry Segment With C81 Series Focused On Everyday Usability

POCO has introduced the POCO C81 Series in India, bringing two new devices, the C81 and C81x, into the entry-level segment. The lineup is built around a familiar idea: large displays, stable performance, and long battery life, targeting users who prioritise consistency over aggressive hardware. The POCO C81 features a 6.9-inch HD+ display, while the C81x comes with a slightly smaller 6.88-inch panel. Both support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, which is still uncommon at this price point. The focus here is on everyday smoothness rather than peak display quality. Scrolling, basic gaming, and UI navigation are expected to feel more responsive, while TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker reduction aim to make extended usage more comfortable. The devices support Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and include a 3.5mm headphone jack. They come with 64GB of internal storage and support up to 2TB of expandable storage via a dedicated slot, making them more flexible for long-term use.

Performance Tuned For Stability Rather Than Speed

The C81 is positioned as the more capable option, featuring LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which should help with faster app loading and smoother multitasking. The C81x, on the other hand, focuses on essential usage, with a setup optimised for communication, media consumption, and light apps.

Both devices run on Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3, but the software support differs. The C81 is promised 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates, while the C81x gets 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, creating a clear separation between the two models.

Battery Life Stays At The Centre Of The Experience

Battery life remains one of the key highlights of the C81 Series, with both devices claimed to last up to two days on a single charge under moderate usage. They support 15W charging with an in-box charger and also include 7.5W reverse charging, adding a layer of practicality for users who may want to power small accessories.

Cameras Focus On Reliability Over Features

The POCO C81 comes with a 13MP dual AI camera system, while the C81x uses a single 13MP rear camera.

Both devices include an 8MP front camera and support 1080p video recording at 30fps, along with features like HDR, Night Mode, Portrait, and Time-lapse. The setup is clearly aimed at basic photography needs rather than pushing camera capabilities.

Lightweight Build With Practical Additions

In terms of design, the C81 measures 8.15mm in thickness and weighs 208g, while the C81x is slightly thicker at 8.26mm but lighter at 193g. Both phones include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with gesture support and carry an IP52 rating for protection against dust and light splashes.

Pricing Keeps It Aggressively Positioned

The POCO C81x is priced at ₹9,999 for the 3GB + 64GB variant, while the POCO C81 comes in at ₹10,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model.

Both devices will be available via Flipkart, with sales starting April 27, 2026. With the C81 Series, POCO is focusing on the fundamentals of the entry-level segment: display size, battery life, and long-term usability. Rather than chasing performance or camera upgrades, the company is leaning into reliability and consistency, which continues to be the deciding factor for a large portion of budget buyers.
