Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17 5G in India, targeting users looking for long battery life and a large display. The smartphone comes with a 7,900mAh battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, a 120Hz display and a 50MP AI camera.

The biggest highlight of the Redmi 17 5G is its 7,900mAh battery, which is designed to handle extended periods of streaming, gaming, social media and everyday use. The phone supports 45W fast charging and also offers wired reverse charging to share power with other compatible devices. The Redmi 17 5G features a 17.53cm (6.9-inch) display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel offers up to 825 nits of HBM brightness, while TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Circadian Friendly and Flicker Free are aimed at improving viewing comfort.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The smartphone also comes with dual stereo speakers for a potentially better immersive audio experience.
Under the hood, the Redmi 17 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process. The chipset features an octa-core CPU with speeds of up to 2.4GHz and is paired with 5G connectivity.
The phone comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, depending on the variant. Storage can also be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Redmi 17 5G features a 50MP AI Dual main camera. It supports features such as Night Mode, Portrait Mode, HDR and Document Mode.
The front gets an 8MP camera with Portrait and Night modes. Xiaomi has also included a soft-light ring around the front camera for additional illumination while taking selfies in low-light conditions.
The Redmi 17 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, with the company positioning the software as a smoother and more intuitive interface. The phone gets an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, along with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock. It also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Redmi 17 5G Price and Availability in India
The Redmi 17 5G is available in two configurations. The 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 23,999, while the 8GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 26,999.
The smartphone will be available from September 10 via mi.com, Amazon India and Xiaomi Retail stores. It comes in Absolute Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange, with the latter featuring a Vegan Leather Finish.
The Redmi 17 5G stands out primarily for its 7,900mAh battery and 6.9-inch 120Hz display, making it an interesting option for users who prioritise endurance and media consumption. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 should handle everyday workloads, while expandable storage up to 2TB adds useful flexibility.
