Redmi Turbo 5 India launch confirmed with Dimensity 8500 Ultra, 100W charging, and massive battery

Redmi appears ready to shake up the premium mid-range smartphone market once again. Fresh reports suggest the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 could soon make its way to India, bringing an aggressive combination of flagship-inspired specifications, ultra-fast charging, and a powerful new MediaTek chipset aimed directly at performance-focused buyers.

According to recent reports, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to arrive with MediaTek's Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, positioning the phone as a serious contender in the increasingly competitive upper mid-range Android segment. The chipset is rumored to focus heavily on gaming performance, AI processing, and improved power efficiency, potentially allowing the device to compete with significantly more expensive flagship smartphones.

The phone is also tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a feature that has become increasingly important for smartphone buyers looking for better low-light photography and smoother video stabilization without spending flagship-level money.

One of the biggest talking points, however, could be charging speed. Reports indicate the Redmi Turbo 5 may support 100W fast charging, allowing the device to recharge dramatically faster than many competing smartphones currently available in the Indian market. Fast charging has become one of the key battlegrounds among Chinese smartphone brands, with companies racing to reduce charging times to under 30 minutes.

Redmi Turbo 5 Expected Specifications

While Redmi has not officially revealed the full specifications yet, the smartphone has already been launched in China, giving a clearer idea of what Indian buyers can expect.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to feature a 6.59-inch flat AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. This combination should offer smoother animations, responsive gaming performance, and better multimedia experiences.

Reports also suggest the phone may feature LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which would significantly improve app loading times, multitasking performance, and gaming responsiveness. These are the same high-speed memory standards typically found in much more expensive flagship devices.

One of the phone's biggest highlights could be its battery capacity. The Redmi Turbo 5 is tipped to pack a massive 7,560mAh battery, substantially larger than what most smartphones currently offer in this segment. Combined with 100W wired fast charging support, the phone could potentially deliver multi-day battery life while still charging quickly enough to reduce downtime.

On the camera front, the smartphone is tipped to feature a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. A 20MP front camera is also expected for selfies and video calls.

In addition, the device could arrive with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance – something still relatively uncommon in this price segment. If confirmed, that would make the Redmi Turbo 5 one of the more durable performance-focused phones available in India.

Redmi Turbo 5: Should You Buy It?

The launch also highlights how aggressively competitive the premium mid-range Android market has become. Consumers now expect flagship-style displays, gaming performance, large batteries, fast charging, and premium build quality without crossing into ultra-premium pricing territory.

If Redmi manages to price the Turbo 5 aggressively, the smartphone could emerge as a serious challenger to devices like the iQOO 15R and OnePlus 15R. For buyers prioritizing gaming performance, battery life, and value for money, the Redmi Turbo 5 may become one of the most interesting smartphone launches of the month.
