Motorola has expanded its tablet portfolio in India with the launch of the Moto Pad 70 Groove, a new entertainment-focused Android tablet that brings together a premium display, a powerful speaker setup, AI-powered software features, and a large battery.
Unlike many tablets in this price segment that focus primarily on productivity, Motorola is clearly pitching the Moto Pad 70 Groove as an entertainment-first device. From the massive 12.1-inch display to the 9-unit JBL speaker system and the integrated kickstand, almost every hardware decision seems aimed at making content consumption more immersive.
Moto Pad 70 Groove Specifications And Features
One of the biggest highlights of the Moto Pad 70 Groove is its 12.1-inch LCD display with a 2.5K (2560 x 1600 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, the DCI-P3 colour gamut, and offers up to 800 nits High Brightness Mode, making it suitable for watching HDR content indoors as well as outdoors.
For users who spend most of their tablet time streaming Netflix, YouTube or Disney+ Hotstar, this is easily one of the strongest display packages in its price range.
Instead of relying on conventional quad speakers, Motorola has equipped the Moto Pad 70 Groove with a 9-unit JBL Pro Speaker System comprising four tweeters, three woofers and two passive radiators. The setup is paired with Dolby Atmos, promising room-filling sound with stronger bass and clearer vocals than typical Android tablets. The tablet can also double up as a Bluetooth speaker, making it useful beyond just video streaming.
This is probably the most interesting aspect of the tablet. Most brands talk about displays first, but Motorola seems to have invested equally in the audio experience, which makes sense for a device designed around movies, music and gaming.
Under the hood, the Moto Pad 70 Groove runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Storage can also be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.
Motorola says the chipset is capable of handling multitasking, gaming, streaming and even 4K video playback, while Android 16 and the clean software experience should keep things responsive during everyday use.
Another standout addition is the 360° Kickstand 2.0, which supports four different modes including Lean, Stand, Theatre and Hanging Mode. Whether you’re attending online classes, following a recipe in the kitchen or watching a movie hands-free, the built-in stand removes the need for a separate tablet cover.
The tablet also features an all-metal chassis, measures just 6.8mm thick and comes in a single PANTONE Blue Surf colour.
The Moto Pad 70 Groove ships with Android 16 out of the box and Motorola is promising OS upgrades up to Android 18 along with four years of security updates.
On the AI side, the tablet includes Google Gemini, Circle to Search, AI Writing Tools, AI Notes, Smarter Reader, and Smart Connect, allowing users to summarise documents, generate content, search visually and seamlessly connect with Motorola smartphones and PCs.
Keeping everything running is a 10,200mAh battery, which Motorola claims can deliver up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. It also supports 45W TurboPower charging, with the company claiming users can get around two hours of usage with just 10 minutes of charging.
Moto Pad 70 Groove Price in India
The Moto Pad 70 Groove is available in a single 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. It carries an official price of Rs. 36,999, but buyers can avail a Rs. 3,000 instant bank discount, bringing the effective launch price down to Rs. 33,999. Sales begin on August 7 through Flipkart, Motorola.in and authorised retail stores.
Motorola isn’t trying to compete with flagship productivity tablets here. Instead, it has built something that feels purpose-driven. The combination of a sharp 2.5K display, a surprisingly ambitious 9-speaker JBL setup, a huge battery and a built-in kickstand makes the Moto Pad 70 Groove stand out in a market where most Android tablets still look and feel quite similar.
Personally, I think the audio hardware is what really separates this tablet from the competition. Displays have become good across the board, but very few brands invest this much in the sound experience. If Motorola manages to deliver on those speaker claims in real-world usage, the Moto Pad 70 Groove could become one of the most compelling entertainment tablets under Rs. 35,000.
