Dyson has taken hair styling to the next level with the all-new Airwrap Coanda 2x Multi-Dryer and Styler. This compact yet powerful tool is driven by the latest Hyperdymium 2 motor, which delivers double the air pressure. The result is smoother wrapping, faster drying, and sleeker straightening than ever before.
Using its smart technology, the device automatically adjusts airflow based on your styling needs and delivers consistent results across all hair types. It's also lighter and smaller now, offering improved grip and control without sacrificing performance.
According to the company, the name "2x" signifies 30% more overall power and twice the air pressure. When paired with the updated attachments, you get the speed of a full-sized dryer, stronger Coanda airflow for more defined curls, and the ability to create ultra-smooth, straight styles using one sleek tool.
We have taken demos of the hair styling products from Dyson earlier, and we feel that, compared to the Dyson Supersonic, the Airwrap is designed for styling versatility, while the Corrale targets straight hair specifically. The Coanda 2x now attempts to merge the best of all three. It promises to offer smoother drying, defined curls, and sleek straightening from one compact tool.
Dyson debuted the new Airwrap Coanda 2x globally in the UK, with early availability there and in select international markets. While there's no official word yet on an India launch, Dyson typically takes a few months to bring its global products to the country, depending on demand and regional strategy. We're hoping the Coanda 2x makes its way to India later this year, especially as interest in premium styling tools continues to rise.
With six different attachments included, it's easy to get confused about what each one does. That's why knowing how each attachment works can make a big difference in how you style your hair.
Curling Barrels
The Dyson Airwrap comes with two curling barrels: a 1.6-inch and a 1.2-inch, both featuring the Coanda 2x technology. These barrels help to create either loose, wavy curls or more voluminous ones. The company claims that because of its improved motor, curling is now 30% faster than before, and the barrels are smart too. They can detect when your hair is fully wrapped and automatically begin the curling process. The tips have also been redesigned to provide a better grip and facilitate easier twisting. We are yet to check out these claims and will be looking to experience them in detail.
Anti-Snag Loop Brush 2x
This brush is used to smoothen and give more even finish for all hair types. It features special loop-shaped bristles that make brushing more comfortable and help prevent hair from getting stuck or pulled. This attachment is ideal for creating an everyday office look or for those times when you’re short on time and need to style your hair quickly.
Round Volumising Brush 2x
This brush is designed to add volume to your hair while reducing frizz. It directs airflow in a controlled manner and features special bristles that allow you to style one section at a time without disturbing the rest of your hair.
AirSmooth 2x
Traditional straighteners usually press the hair between hot plates to achieve a poker-straight look. However, this attachment uses high-velocity airflow to deliver a smooth, polished finish. Once you pass the tool through a section of hair, it automatically opens to release the hair, making it quick and easy to use.
Fast Dryer 2x
This helps you dry your hair quickly, either from wet to fully dry or just enough to prepare it for styling.
Should You Spend $699 on This?
Well, as of now, Dyson has kept the India pricing and launch date under wraps. In the USA, though, it's priced at $699, which is approximately Rs 60,000 based on today's conversion rate. But at Rs 60,000, do you really need the Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x?
For context, the regular Dyson Airwrap Complete Long is currently priced at Rs 44,900 in India and uses the original Coanda technology with a less powerful motor. It comes with similar attachments but doesn't offer the same speed or airflow performance. However, it's still more than capable for everyday styling needs and has been a bestseller in its category.
Sure, Dyson is known for its premium-quality products, but the price tags are just as premium, and honestly, not something most buyers can easily afford. Yes, the 2x technology does offer more overall power and twice the air pressure. However, paying Rs 15,000 more than the regular Airwrap already available in India feels like a significant amount. The attachments are largely the same; the real difference lies in the 2x technology.
If I had to choose, I wouldn't spend nearly Rs 60,000 or a similar amount (since we are not aware of the launch price, but it should be in the same ballpark) on the new Airwrap. I'd rather go for the regular version. That said, if you’re someone who wants a more enhanced finish and double the airflow, this might be worth the splurge. Still, I'd recommend waiting for the official India price before making a decision. Stay tuned to MySmartPrice as we'll bring you all the updates once the India launch happens.
