Samsung has launched its T7 and T9 microSD Cards in India, expanding its removable storage lineup with a focus on gamers and content creators. The new cards mark a shift in Samsung's branding strategy for microSD products, moving away from the EVO Plus, PRO Plus, and PRO Ultimate naming to a simplified ‘T' series that aligns with the company's Portable SSD range. Both cards will be available for purchase starting in the first week of May 2026.
Samsung T7 and T9 microSD Cards Price in India, Availability
The Samsung T7 microSD Card is available in four storage options: 128GB priced at Rs. 4,849, 256GB at Rs. 7,599, 512GB at Rs. 15,199, and 1TB at Rs. 30,399. The T9 microSD Card, positioned as a performance-focused option, comes in three variants: 128GB at Rs. 5,989, 256GB at Rs. 9,499, and 512GB at Rs. 18,999.
Samsung has confirmed that both lineups will go on sale in the first week of May 2026. The company has also introduced a new naming structure for its removable storage products, with the ‘T' series representing ‘Trustworthiness,' a shift that brings the microSD branding in line with its existing Portable SSD range.
Samsung T7 microSD Card: Built for Everyday Use
The Samsung T7 microSD Card is designed for everyday storage expansion, targeting light gamers and content creators. The card offers read speeds of up to 170MB/s and is available in capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB. According to Samsung, the T7 is compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and handheld gaming consoles.
The card supports U3, V30, A2, and Class 10 speed ratings, which should make it suitable for tasks like recording Full HD or 4K video and running apps directly from the card. Samsung claims the T7 provides reliable performance for users who need dependable storage without requiring the highest speeds available.
Samsung T9 microSD Card: Performance-Driven Storage
The T9 microSD Card is aimed at performance-driven users, including gaming enthusiasts and professional content creators who work with large data files. It offers read speeds of up to 200MB/s and write speeds of up to 130MB/s, making it faster than the T7 across both metrics.
Samsung has equipped the T9 with what it calls 6-proof protection, though specific details about what this protection covers have not been disclosed. The company claims the card is suitable for high-performance devices such as drones and action cameras, in addition to smartphones, laptops, tablets, and gaming consoles.
Like the T7, the T9 supports U3, V30, A2, and Class 10 speed ratings. Both cards come with a limited 3-year warranty, though the warranty does not cover continuous recording devices like security cameras or dashboard cameras.
Samsung Rebrands Its microSD Lineup
With the launch of the T7 and T9, Samsung is phasing out its previous microSD Card lineup, which included the EVO Plus, PRO Plus, and PRO Ultimate series. The new T-series branding is intended to simplify product selection for consumers by aligning the naming convention with Samsung's Portable SSD range.
Both cards use the microSDXC form factor and support the UHS-I SDR104 interface. They measure 15 x 11 x 1mm and weigh approximately 0.25g. The cards have received FCC, CE, VCCI, and RCM certifications.
