Sandisk has expanded its storage portfolio with two new SSDs designed specifically for network-attached storage (NAS) environments. The SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD and SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD target prosumers, creative professionals and small businesses that need high-endurance storage for collaborative and always-on workloads.
SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD Specifications And Features
The SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD is designed as an upgrade for users looking to replace HDDs in their NAS systems or add SSD caching and tiering. It offers up to 2,500TBW on the 4TB model and up to 2.25 million hours of MTTF. The SSD uses a 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA form factor and can fit into compatible 3.5-inch NAS drive bays. It offers sequential read speeds of up to 560MB/s and is designed for multi-drive and RAID configurations. The NAS 600 is available in capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB, making it the more accessible option for users upgrading existing NAS systems from mechanical storage.
For more demanding workloads, the SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD uses PCIe 5.0 and is designed for all-flash and hybrid NAS deployments. It offers endurance of up to 14PBW on the 7.68TB model. The drive can deliver up to 2.3 million random read IOPS and 2 million random write IOPS on the 3.84TB model. Sequential read and write speeds reach up to 14,900MB/s and 13,200MB/s, respectively, on the 1.92TB model.
Sandisk is positioning the NAS 800 for workloads including databases, virtualisation, content creation, multi-user collaboration and agentic AI. It uses TLC 3D NAND and is available in capacities ranging from 960GB to 7.68TB.
Sandisk NAS SSDs Price and Availability
Both the SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD and NAS 800 NVMe SSD will be available globally from September through Sandisk's website, select retailers and e-tailers.
The NAS 600 starts at US$179.99 (approximately ₹17,067) for the 500GB model, while the NAS 800 starts at US$309.99 (approximately ₹29,393) for the 960GB variant. The company has not provided India-specific pricing in the announcement.
Sandisk's new NAS lineup makes sense for users who have outgrown conventional hard drives but don't necessarily need enterprise storage. The NAS 600 is the more straightforward upgrade for existing SATA-based systems, while the NAS 800 is aimed at users building faster all-flash NAS setups and handling heavier workloads.
The NAS 800 is particularly interesting on paper, with PCIe 5.0 and sequential speeds reaching 14,900MB/s. However, the real-world advantage will depend heavily on NAS hardware, network infrastructure and workload, so these speeds are unlikely to be fully realised in every home or small-business setup.
