The Honeywell Move Pure 4 is a boon for those who consider the Gurugram-Noida Expressway their home. As India rises through the ranks of developing countries, we Indians now constantly remain in the presence of airborne pollutants, even during our daily commute to the office. Considering the severity of this issue, Honeywell has built the Move Pure 4 from the ground up with features that fight back pollutants.
This air purifier boasts a 3-in-1 filtration system, including an H12 HEPA filter and a nano-silver antibacterial layer, along with advanced monitoring technology. Furthermore, it features air inlets in three directions. While these features make the Move Pure 4 ideal on paper for reducing pollution inside a car, let’s see how effectively it performs in practical Indian driving conditions in my review.
Over the past few years, car air purifiers have gone from niche accessories to practical essentials, especially for those living in or commuting through high-pollution zones like Delhi-NCR. With rising AQI levels and longer hours spent in traffic, brands such as Honeywell are now focusing on portable, high-efficiency solutions that extend clean air beyond homes and offices.
Build Quality and Design
The Move Pure 4 has been designed to perfectly blend with any car interior due to its standard black body with a golden accent ring around the air intake. I am glad that Honeywell decided to make this car purifier utilitarian rather than opting for a fancy design; otherwise, it would have disrupted the flow of the dull-looking interiors most Indian cars have.

Another advantage of being aesthetically functional is that switching fan modes is simple, as it only has a single button. Aside from powering on the device, it features an indicator that changes its colour to alert whether the air has been cleansed, turning green, or if the filter needs to be changed, flashing yellow. Additionally, its display makes it easy to monitor the AQI of your car in real-time.

Although the Move Pure 4 has a large footprint, it makes sense considering that it houses a 3-in-1 filter system, a powerful fan unit, and air inlets in three different directions. In my testing, which I will discuss later, I found the fan to be quick at cleansing the air. That’s why I refer to it as a powerful unit. However, the large size of this car air purifier poses a risk to human occupants inside a vehicle.
As you skim its instructional manual, you will notice that the brand suggests it can be placed on a dashboard. However, this could be fatal in an unfortunate event, as car manufacturers strongly advise against even placing any trinkets on your dashboard.

That said, the Move Pure 4 can be mounted on the back of your seat’s headrest with a loop. Since it isn’t a battery-operated device, powering it can be difficult in this setup. This air purifier relies on a CLA charger to work. Therefore, its dangling wire might get in your way when you change gears in your car. Therefore, you need to accept this limitation of the Move Pure 4 to use it all year round.
Filters and Air Purification
The Move Pure 4 utilises a strong 3-in-1 filtration system, comprising a pre-filter, a nano-silver antibacterial layer, and an H12 HEPA filter. The pre-filter traps large airborne particles, such as dust, pet hair, and lint, preventing clogging of the other two filters.

On the other hand, the nano-silver antibacterial layer eradicates bacteria and other microorganisms from the air, thereby preventing their growth. An H12 HEPA filter acts as a final line of defence in this air purifier, helping it filter 99.99% of particles of 0.3 microns in size. Moreover, it removes harmful gases and odours, such as formaldehyde, further cleaning the air in your car.
Performance and Real-World Testing
I assessed the performance of the Move Pure 4 in a 2023 Hyundai Creta. I selected this car for testing because there is a growing trend among Indians of adopting SUV-like vehicles. Therefore, most new cars on the road have similar dimensions to the Creta. During the evaluation of this air purifier, two occupants were present in the car, including me. I want to preface that I conducted this test in a stationary vehicle.

Setting our test bed aside, I created the simulation environment inside the car for the air purifier using incense sticks. The smoke from this device boasts similar characteristics to the air we Delhiites breathe during the winter season. Another reason behind such measures is that Delhi’s overall AQI has stabilised due to recent downpours. Therefore, creating the simulation environment by keeping the car’s interior exposed to the outside air became challenging. I want to add that the Move Pure 4 was evaluated inside the car without air conditioning. Moreover, it was placed above the central infotainment system.
I used an air quality monitor to evaluate the performance of the Move Pure 4 inside the car.
Now that I have explained the testing conditions and methodology, it’s time to interpret how the Move Pure 4 performed in auto and max fan speed mode based on PM2.5 and AQI.
Auto Mode
| Time (minutes) | PM2.5 (ug/m3) | AQI |
| Start | 999 | 100 |
| 5 | 7 | 2 |
Given that the starting AQI was at 100, I was impressed by how well the Move Pure 4 instantly cleansed the air in 5 minutes. As I sat right beside the air purifier, I observed it improving the air quality to AQI 6 within 4 minutes. It took an additional minute to drop it to AQI 2. The ideal air quality inside the car is said to be AQI 50 or below. Considering its performance in our testing, you can easily achieve this condition within minutes of using the Move Pure 4.
However, if you’re more concerned about the inconspicuous particles in the air inside the car that can cause diseases like asthma, the Move Pure 4 is built for you. As you can see in the PM2.5 row, it cleansed up to 99.2 per cent of fine particles from the air in 5 minutes. The PM2.5, for those unaware, is a mixture of many inhalable particles in the air that have a diameter of 2.5 micrometres or less.
Max Mode
| Time (minutes) | PM2.5 (ug/m3) | AQI |
| Start | 999 | 100 |
| 5 | 4 | 1 |
I also assessed the Move Pure 4 at its max speed. It unsurprisingly performed better than it did in auto mode. The AQI now reached 1 within 5 minutes of operation. Moreover, the PM2.5 matters were further reduced to 4 μg/m3. Its performance is beneficial to individuals who regularly drive through areas with severely polluted levels, such as the Ghazipur landfill mountain, where a single breath can trigger several health complications.
I also want to highlight whether it was max speed or auto mode; the Move Pure 4 was quite silent in its operation. As I focused on the air purifier, the only thing I could hear was a buzz. The car’s music system can easily muffle its sound. Even if you drive your vehicle silently, it won’t annoy you.
Ease of Changing Filters and Cost
Changing the filter inside the Move Pure 4 is as easy as learning the alphabet. We simply need to twist the top cover in the opposite direction, and voilà, we can now access the filter inside. However, you can’t currently replace the old filter in the Move Pure 4 because the brand isn’t selling its new filter in the online retail giants like Amazon and Flipkart at the present moment. Even Honeywell’s website doesn’t list it. So, you have to wait for a while if you want to buy it conveniently online, or you can search for it in the offline market. However, we are in talks with the brand, trying to figure out when they will be available.
Verdict
The Honeywell Move Pure 4 is a compelling option for people who want to travel in their car with clean air. Its utilitarian design makes it perfectly blend with any car’s interior. When it comes to the actual purpose, this air purifier excels at delivering clean air within minutes, considering how significantly it reduced PM2.5 within five minutes in our testing. It is almost a perfect device. What holds it back are minor inconveniences that need to be discussed. Honeywell has designed it to be sufficiently large to hold a triple filtration system and a powerful fan unit. The only sensible method to install it inside the vehicle is to mount it on the headrest of any seat; otherwise, placing it on the dashboard might be dangerous during an accident. However, its dependence on a CLA charger could cause issues when switching gears due to its dangling wires. But most importantly, its new filters are currently unavailable in the online market, which may cause inconvenience when the time comes for a filter replacement.
With rising awareness about in-car pollution, Honeywell’s Move Pure 4 shows how established air purifier brands are adapting their technology for everyday mobility. It may not be perfect in placement or power supply convenience, but it gets the core job done impressively well. For urban drivers dealing with long commutes and rising smog levels, it offers a dependable, well-engineered way to breathe easier on the road.
