Apple’s iPhone 16 series launch is still some time away, but several leaks are indicating that the company could increase the display size of the Pro models. The forthcoming iPhone 16 series smartphones is expected to include the Apple iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones as always. But the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could see a significant upgrade in display size.
A new report from Macrumors has revealed the dimensions, weight and display size of the forthcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones. Previously, a South Korean media outlet had reported about the change in the display size of the 2024 iPhones. The forthcoming iPhone 16 series is also rumoured to sport significant upgrades in microphone for better AI experience.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone 16 Pro smartphone will get a bigger 6.27-inch display. The smartphone will have dimensions of 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25 mm and weigh 194 grams. To recall, the existing iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch display with a dimension of 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25 mm and weighs 187 grams.
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max will sport a 6.9-inch display compared to the 6.7-inch display of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, adds the report. The dimensions will be 163 x 77.58 x 8.25 mm and weigh 225 grams, claims the report. The existing iPhone 15 Pro Max has 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.25 mm dimensions and weighs 221 grams. The slight increase in the size of the display also increases the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s weight.
The increase in display size could also allow Apple to incorporate a larger battery in the upcoming iPhones. This could solve a major pain point for Apple users, where the smaller battery size and overall output remains a concern.
Apple is also expected to improve the internals of the display on the smartphones, according to MacRumors. The iPhone 16 series will likely come with micro-lens array technology to increase the peak display brightness. This technology uses a uniform pattern of billions of lenses to reduce the internal reflection of the OLED panel.
The decreased reflection will help the smartphone increase the brightness without additional power consumption. Samsung is also developing a new OLED material for equipping the forthcoming iPhones with a more power efficient display.
The iPhone 16 Pro series could also see changes on the camera front. A recent report claimed that Apple will equip the iPhone 16 Pro smartphone with an advanced tetraprism telephoto lens. Noted Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has also made similar assertions.
