Orient Electric Ecotech Volt Ceiling Fan Launched With Built-In Battery Backup

Orient Electric has launched the Ecotech Volt, a BLDC ceiling fan with a built-in battery backup designed to keep homes cool during power cuts. The company claims the fan can deliver up to 10 hours of uninterrupted cooling without requiring an inverter or external power backup.

Specifications And Features

The Ecotech Volt is built around a 28W BLDC motor that consumes up to 50% less energy than conventional induction fans, according to Orient Electric. It also uses a double ball-bearing mechanism and is designed to operate across a wide voltage range of 120V to 280V, making it suitable for areas that experience voltage fluctuations.

The biggest highlight is the integrated rechargeable battery. Instead of relying on a separate inverter or external power bank, the battery is built directly into the ceiling fan. Orient Electric says this allows the fan to continue operating during power outages and can also free up existing inverter capacity for other appliances in homes that already have an inverter.

The company says the battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its battery health after 500 charge cycles. The fan comes with a three-year warranty, while the integrated battery gets a separate one-year warranty. The Ecotech Volt will be available in Glacier Grey and White colour options.

The fan's claimed 10-hour backup is based on operation at speed 1, meaning actual backup duration will vary depending on the selected speed and usage conditions.

Orient Electric Ecotech Volt Availability

The company has confirmed the launch and its availability in Glacier Grey and White colour options.

The Ecotech Volt takes an interesting approach to a problem that is still relevant across many Indian homes: keeping a fan running when the power goes out. Instead of adding another appliance to an existing inverter setup, Orient Electric has integrated the backup battery directly into the fan.

The 10-hour claim is particularly interesting, although it is measured at the lowest speed setting. The real-world backup at higher speeds will be more important for buyers. Still, combining a BLDC motor with integrated battery backup could make the Ecotech Volt a practical option for households that frequently deal with power cuts, especially where installing a full inverter system isn't desirable.
