Flipkart Announces Same Day Delivery Service; Check Out List of Cities

Flipkart's Same Day Delivery Service is being offered in 20 cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai.

The Indian e-commerce giant – Flipkart has started offering Same Day Delivery Service to its customers in 20 cities in the country. Flipkart in an announcement said that customers from several cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai can get products on the same day of ordering across various categories.

In order to get same day delivery, Flipkart customers from above-mentioned cities need to place an order by 1PM and they will get the product delivery the same day by 12:00 midnight. Flipkart also said that it plans to extend the same day delivery service to more cities in the coming months. Let us take a closer look at the details.

Flipkart tested the Same Day Delivery Service back in 2014 but it was limited to only 10 cities and was shut down after a few months. Flipkart’s competitor – Amazon has been offering the same day delivery service across several cities since 2017 in India.

Flipkart says that technological advancements and better sortation at fulfillment centers has allowed company to enable Same Day Delivery service.

Flipkart’s tech team has been working on machine learning models and other technology solutions to achieve optimized router planning including shorter pick up times and faster sortation of products.

Flipkart says that these algorithms also help it dispatching the orders from nearest fulfillment centers which reduces the overall transit time and will help it enable Same Day Delivery Service.
