BGMI 4.5 update replaces classic map locations with a Spider-Man vertical combat zone

KRAFTON India has announced a collaboration between BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day as part of the upcoming BGMI 4.5 update. Instead of introducing only themed cosmetics, the update brings an entirely new gameplay experience built around vertical combat, faster movement, and interactive Spider-Man-inspired mechanics.

Erangel Gets a Spider-Man-Inspired Urban Makeover

As part of the collaboration, parts of Erangel will transform into a modern urban district designed for vertical gameplay. The update introduces Skyline Plaza, a new high-rise combat zone replacing familiar locations like Gatka and Mansion. Players will also find rooftop pathways, elevated walkways, and Skyline Ziplines that allow rapid movement across buildings.

KRAFTON says the new environment shifts the focus from traditional ground-based firefights to faster, rooftop-based combat where mobility becomes just as important as gunplay. The collaboration also introduces Spider-Man-inspired abilities through two special in-game items.

Peter Parker's Gloves unlock Web Swing for fast traversal between buildings and Web Attack, which can slow down and trap enemies using webs.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker's Hoodie grants players the ability to climb walls, perform Double Jumps, and use Spider Sense to detect nearby enemy movement through footprints and tracking indicators. These additions are expected to significantly change movement and engagement strategies during matches.

Story-Driven Experiences Beyond Battle Royale

Apart from gameplay changes, the update introduces several Spider-Man-themed locations and cinematic events.

Players can explore Peter Parker's Apartment filled with interactive objects and Easter eggs, experience a Rescue Photo Zone where Spider-Man saves the player before an in-game photo is captured, and complete the iconic Train Rescue Sequence inspired by one of Spider-Man's most memorable moments. A Cemetery Tribute Zone has also been added with rewards and hidden Spider-Man references.

The collaboration also extends to WOW Mode with a dedicated narrative-driven experience. Unlike the standard battle royale mode, players can freely swing across the city, complete Spider-Man-themed missions, take part in rooftop parkour challenges, and unlock progression rewards through exploration-focused gameplay.

Availability

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration will be available in BGMI from July 30 to September 14 through the BGMI 4.5 update, coinciding with the theatrical release of the movie.. KRAFTON says additional gameplay trailers and reveals will be shared through BGMI's official social media channels before the update goes live.

Crossovers have become common in battle royale games, but this collaboration appears to go beyond character skins and themed cosmetics. By introducing vertical city environments, web-based movement mechanics, and dedicated story experiences, KRAFTON is attempting to refresh BGMI's core gameplay loop. The update will compete for player attention alongside seasonal events in titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Free Fire MAX, while also capitalising on the buzz around Marvel's latest Spider-Man film. Whether these new mechanics remain balanced in competitive matches will ultimately determine how successful the collaboration is once it goes live.
