Microsoft has announced the Xbox app’s Compact Mode is getting a new ‘Jump Back In’ feature for Windows handhelds. The rollout is happening for all Xbox Insiders, part of the PC Gaming Preview. The new feature will be convenient for gamers to jump back into their favourite games.
Xbox App’s New ‘Jump Back In’ Feature
Jump back in will focus on the games that a player has played recently. It is a new section when the Xbox app Compact Mode is enabled. As per official screenshots, players will see a row at the top featuring their recently played games. This new row will have up to nine games that have been played recently.
You can select and click on the game card you want to jump back into. It will take you straight to the selected title’s game hub. This area shows your in-game progress, achievements, friends who play, and other details or content related to the game. You can also press the menu button on your handheld to play the game instantly.
Microsoft is further improving the Friends panel in the Xbox app Compact Mode. Players will soon be able to access the panel using controller navigation. This panel will show you a list of online and offline friends. It also shows the game you are playing. You can easily start a Party or chat with your friends via this panel.
It is currently unknown when these new Xbox app features will become available for all players. If you want to try them before the public release, you can join the Xbox Insider Program to become an insider. This program lets you experience new features ahead of others and provide feedback. However, it also means you may experience unfinished and laggy features, which tend to get fixed once a part of the stable release.
