  • ChatGPT rival Claude has a new iPhone app and an Android app is coming soon.
  • It’s a Large Language Model (LLM) backed chatbot, which can analyse documents like infographics, handwritten notes, and more.

Claude, a ChatGPT, Gemini, and even Copilot rival now has an iOS app. The chatbot, introduced last year, is based on a Large Language Model (LLM), which can give replies to queries, analyse documents, and do more. It is also expected to reach Android users soon. Here’s everything you need to know about Claude, its app, and how you can use it.

What’s Claude and How is it Different from Other Chatbots?

At first glance, Claude may be just another large language model (LLM)—backed chatbot. While it can have human-like conversations, generate creative text formats, and answer questions informatively, it sets itself apart by allowing users to upload documents like infographics, drawings, photos, or even handwritten notes. Claude can analyse, summarise, or answer specific questions based on the uploaded content.

Is Claude Free?

Claude operates on a freemium model. The free version of the app allows users to send a limited 7 to 8 messages for free. However, users can again message the chatbot after a couple of hours.

The Claude Pro plan costs Rs 1,999 per month and packs several benefits like priority access during high-traffic sessions, access to Claude 3 Opus, Anthropic’s most intelligent model, and early access to new features.

Claude’s History

The brains behind Claude have an interesting history. Anthropic, the company that created Claude, was founded by Dario Amodei and other ex-OpenAI employees last year. Amodei was the VP of Research at OpenAI and played a key role at the company for several years, leading the development of the technology that powers ChatGPT!

However, he reportedly disagreed with OpenAI’s direction, believing safety should be the top focus. So, he left and formed Anthropic, where they built Claude, which strongly emphasised safe and reliable AI interactions.
