When HP folded its gaming laptop line-up under the well-established HyperX brand, a simple logo swap seemed inevitable. Fortunately, the new HyperX Omen 15 proves to be far more than just a fresh coat of paint. Building on the lightweight gaming legacy of the HP Omen Transcend 14, this reimagined 15-inch powerhouse offers massive improvements in thermal management and display quality, though it faces stiff competition when it comes to pure graphical muscle per rupee.
HyperX Omen 15
Rs 1,49,990What Is Good?
- Outstanding thermal efficiency with rock-solid temperatures
- RTX 5050 provides a massive leap over previous RTX 4050/3060 models
- Gorgeous, bright 15.3-inch 2.5K IPS screen with excellent anti-glare
- New, sturdier chassis that resolves past hinge issues
What Is Bad?
- Competitors offer more powerful RTX 5060 GPUs at a similar or lower price
- Audio quality fails to match the premium branding
- The keyboard's numpad shifts the typing centre awkwardly
- Touchpad lacks haptic feedback and could be larger

Here is everything you need to know after a week of intensive testing.

Design and Display: A New Chassis with a Stunning Screen

HyperX has introduced an entirely new polycarbonate chassis that thankfully fixes the dreaded hinge issues of older models. While its 2.42 kg weight sits comfortably between the lighter HP Victus (2.29 kg) and the heavier HP Omen 16 (2.44 kg), its physical footprint feels slightly chunky. Vents are strategically placed on the rear and underside to cycle air efficiently.
There are minor gripes: the lid and keyboard deck exhibit some controlled flex, and the display features thick top and bottom bezels. Furthermore, the inclusion of a full-sized keyboard with a numpad feels cramped compared to centred layouts like the one on the Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro. Upgrading to a larger, haptic touchpad for future iterations would also be a welcome modernisation.

However, the display is a masterclass. The 15.3-inch 2.5K IPS panel is spectacular, easily rivalling OLEDs in perceived crispness. Viewing angles are phenomenal, and the anti-glare coating is among the best on the market, matching premium machines like the MacBook Pro series.

Audio, despite the HyperX tuning and DTS:X Ultra branding, is simply average for a gaming laptop.
Performance and Thermals: Ice-Cold Stability
The pairing of the Intel Core i7-14650HX and the new RTX 5050 is brilliantly optimised, with zero evidence of CPU bottlenecking. The true star of the show here is the thermal efficiency, rivaling excellent cooling systems like the one found in the Gigabyte G6.

- 3DMark Wild Life Gaming Stress Test: CPU hovered at 61.99°C, GPU at 68°C (at 99% load). Frame rate stability was an exceptional 99.2%, well above the 97% passing threshold.
- CPU Stress Test: Temperatures peaked at just 72°C with the CPU drawing between 75W and 90W.

The Verdict
Priced at Rs 1.49 lakh, the HyperX Omen 15 demands a careful purchasing decision.
If you are hunting strictly for the highest GPU power per rupee, laptops like the 2025 Alienware Aurora 16 or the Lenovo LOQ offer the superior RTX 5060 for around Rs 1.39 lakh. However, those alternatives come with significant compromises: they typically feature standard 1200p FHD+ displays and run hotter.
The HyperX Omen 15 justifies its price tag through its overall package. You are paying a slight premium for an incredibly sharp 1600p QHD+ display that is exceptionally bright and colour-accurate, a robust new chassis, and phenomenal thermal management that keeps performance stable for hours.
