Google recently unveiled the Google Pixel 8a smartphone in India and other global markets. The Pixel 8a is a mid-range smartphone and has many features and specs similar to that of its elder sibling- the Google Pixel 8.

The Google Pixel 8a is much cheaper than the Pixel 8. However, the Pixel 8 is available with discounts frequently, so there is a good chance of grabbing it at under Rs 60,000. Both these handsets are available for purchase via Flipkart.

The Google Pixel 8a and Pixel 8 look identical. These devices feature a full-screen display with a centred punch-hole notch and have a visor-shaped camera module.

The Pixel 8a features a thicker chin but its corners are more rounded compared to its elder sibling. Overall, due to a smaller chin, the Pixel 8 looks slightly better than the 8a.

The Pixel 8a and Pixel 8 are powered by the company’s in-house Tensor G3 processor, which comes with a Titan M2 security chip, an Arm Mali-G715 GPU, 8GB LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The Pixel 8a and Pixel 8 both come pre-loaded with Android 14. Google has promised seven years of OS, security, and feature drop updates for both these handsets.

The Google Pixel 8 is a better product overall as it features a better Corning Gorilla Glass Victus-protected display, a slightly bigger 4,485mAh battery, faster charging at 27W (50% faster than Pixel 8a), Battery Share, and IP68 protection.

The Pixel 8 is costlier than the Pixel 8a but is often available with hefty discounts (currently available at Rs 54,999 including bank discount). So, there is a good chance that you might be able to grab one by spending a few thousand extra than the Pixel 8a. However, if you are unable to stretch the budget and have to go with Pixel 8a, you will not lose out on much in terms of features.
