Xiaomi 14 Ultra Hands-on Images Leaked Online

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to get a huge camera upgrade from the Xiaomi 14 Pro

Highlights
  • The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be the top-end variant of the Xiaomi 14 Series.
  • The device is expected to feature an upgraded periscope lens.
  • Xiaomi is reportedly testing the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s cameras and comparing it with the Xiaomi 14 Pro.

The Xiaomi 14 Series was launched in China in October 2023 as the first device in the world to feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The company had unveiled two devices, the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Pro with Leica-powered cameras. Xiaomi was also said to be working on an Ultra variant of its latest flagship. Now, images of a new Xiaomi phone have surfaced online, which is claimed to be the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

The images were posted by tipster Jim Zhang on CoolApk- a Chinese marketplace for apps. The phone appears to be in a protective casing, indicating that it’s a prototype unit. Photos also reveal the presence of a periscope-telephoto lens for optical zoom.

It looks like Xiaomi is testing the camera capabilities of its upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra, as the user in the images is also holding the Xiaomi 14 Pro in their hands. The user interface of the camera app is also similar to what we see on Xiaomi flagships.

Xiaomi has not released any details about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The company usually launches its Ultra flagship after 3-4 months of releasing its mainline Mi-Series. To recall, the Xiaomi 13 Series was launched in China in December 2022, which was followed by the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in April 2023.

According to notable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will feature a 50MP primary camera with OIS powered by the Sony LYT 900 sensor. It will also have variable aperture. The f/1.63 aperture on the device will be equivalent to a full frame aperture of f/4.3 found on DSLRs, says DCS.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is also tipped to have a 50MP telephoto lens, a 50MP periscope lens, and an additional 50MP ultra-wide lens to form a quad-rear camera setup. The optical zoom capacity on the device is expected to receive an upgrade from the 3.2x zoom found on the Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Xiaomi may also introduce a titanium frame by default on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The company has already launched a special edition Xiaomi 14 Pro with titanium, but the regular variant continues to feature aluminium.

We can expect the Xiaomi 14 Ultra to launch in China around March 2024. However, the availability of the device outside of China could be very limited as Xiaomi has been quite conservative with its flagship launches globally. Although the company had released the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in select international markets, the Chinese phone maker only launched the Xiaomi 13 Pro in India, skipping the base and Ultra variants.
