Asus has launched two new gaming smartphones in its ROG Phone 5s lineup dubbed as the Asus ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro. These new offering by Asus comes with the new Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. Both the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro feature a 6.7-inch E4 AMOLED display that has a 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz native touch sampling rate, 1200 nits max brightness, and HDR10+ support. These devices ship with up to 18GB LPDDR5 RAM and packs 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. These phones feature a triple-camera setup which consists of a 64MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP sensor. Asus ROG Phone 5s, ROG Phone 5s Pro Features, Specifications
Both the newly launched Asus ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro features near-identical specifications when it comes to hardware as well as software. The only difference is that the vanilla ROG Phone 5s lacks a ROG Vision display on the rear which is present in the Pro model. Additionally, the vanilla ROG Phone 5s model also doesn’t have the two additional touch sensors on the back cover. Except for these two differences, this duo offers similar specifications and features. Both the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro measures 173mmx 77mm x 9.90mm in terms of dimensions and weighs 238 grams. As mentioned above, these handsets come with a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display that is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The display panel on both these devices has a 144Hz refresh rate, 1 millisecond response time, 360Hz native touch sampling rate, and 1200 nits max brightness.
At the heart of these new ROG Phone 5s lineup is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. The SoC is aided with Adreno 660 GPU. Both these phones pack up to 18GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS3.1 storage. The optics department of both the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro is handled by a triple-camera setup. The rear-facing camera module consists of a 64MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP macro camera. On the front side these devices feature a 24MP selfie camera. Both the phones ship with a 6000mAh battery that offers 65W fast charging support. These devices also feature dual-front stereo speakers. As for the connectivity purpose, both the phones offer dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS + GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. On the software side of things, both the handsets run Android 11 out of the box with ROG UI skin.
The Asus ROG Phone 5s comes in Phantom Black colour option, while the regular 5s is released in Phantom Black or a glossier Storm White finish. As of now, Asus has announced the pricing of these devices for only mainland China and Taiwanese regions. As the days pass we should learn the pricing details of these devices in the US, Europe, and Indian markets. As per the details released by Asus, the ROG Phone 5s series will replace the existing ROG Phone 5 when stock depletes.
