iQOO Z9x 5G Launching Soon in India

iQOO will launch the iQOO Z9x 5G on May 16 in India. The iQOO Z9x 5G will be a mid-range smartphone and is expected to be cheaper than the iQOO Z9, which was launched in March. The iQOO Z9x will be sold via Amazon and bring features like a centred punch-hole notch display, and more.

The iQOO Z9x was launched last month in China and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. The handset features a 120Hz LCD screen, 44W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, among other things. Read more here.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max is Top Selling Smartphone of Q1, 2024

Counterpoint reports that the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max was the top-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2024. Despite a larger footprint, users preferred the iPhone 15 Pro Max over the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 15 was the second best-selling smartphone of last quarter, followed by the iPhone 15 Pro.

Apple is continuing its dominance in the best-selling smartphones list. Of the top eight best-selling devices, Apple claimed five spots. The Samsung Galaxy Galaxy S24 Ultra was the best-selling Android device but it ranked at fifth place overall. Read more here.

Jio Continues to Gain New Users

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has released telecom subscribers data for March 2024. Vi lost 6,84,530 users in March 2024 and currently has an 18.86% market share.

In comparison, Jio Telecom gained 21,43,539 new subscribers and it holds the top position with a 40.30% market share. Bharati Airtel has added 17,50,917 new users and it now has a 33.10% market share. The remaining 7.74% market share is split between BSNL and MTNL. Read more here.

Apple Accelerates Work on Foldable Devices

Apple might finally foray into the foldable segment in 2026. As per Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, the tech giant is also said to launch a foldable iPad or a MacBook. The foldable iPad will reportedly be followed by a foldable iPhone in 2026.

Apple’s first foldable device could be a larger 20.3-inch iPad, which is said to go into mass production by late 2025. There are rumours that Apple is working on two foldable iPhones with 7.9-inch and 8.3-inch screen sizes. Read more here.

Sony Retracts PSN Account Linking Requirement for Helldivers 2

After receiving over 200,000 negative reviews on Steam, Sony has retracted the requirement to link a PlayStation Network (PSN) account for playing Helldivers 2. “We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable,” said the company in an official announcement.
