Google Pixel 8a (Akita) Spotted on Geekbench Running Underclocked Version of Tensor G3 SoC, Android 14 and 8GB RAM

The Google Pixel 8a might be introduced next year.

  • The Pixel 8a could be powered by an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset.
  • The device will run Android 14 out of the box as per Geekbench test results.
  • The smartphone is expected to pack up to 8GB of RAM

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro smartphones later this year. The Pixel 8 series is also likely to include the Pixel 8a smartphone. The device could make its debut at the Google I/O 2024 event, considering that the previously launched Pixel 6a and the Pixel 7a were unveiled at the Google I/O event. While the launch timeline of the upcoming Pixel 8a is yet to be revealed, we at MySmartPrice now have spotted the smartphone at Geekbench.

As per the Geekbench listing, the upcoming Google Pixel 8a (Akita) smartphone will be powered by an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset which will be aided with Mali-G715 GPU. Furthermore, the listing also reveals that the handset will ship with up to 8GB of RAM. On the software side of things, the device is expected to boot Android 14 out of the box. The smartphone has managed to pull off 1,218 and 3175 points in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

The other details of the device still remain unknown currently. Back in December 2022, folks at Android Authority had revealed that the smartphone is codenamed as “akita”. The device could also be scrapped based on the Pixel 7a sales, and Google might introduce a new A-series smartphone model once every two years, as per the sources. Additionally, tipster Yogesh Brar had disclosed back in May that the A-series seems to be coming to an end, and there won’t be a Pixel 8a at all.

It is worth noting that the above-mentioned Geekbench listing can be fake, and at this moment we can’t confirm the accuracy of the same. To recall, Google had introduced the Pixel 7a smartphone in May this year. The device features a 6.1-inch OLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution, a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by Google’s in-house Tensor G2 chipset which is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The other key specifications which the phone offer includes 64MP dual-camera setup, a 13MP selfie camera, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, 4,385mAh battery, 18W wired charging support, and wireless charging. The device is priced at Rs 43,999 in India and it comes in Charcoal, Sea and Snow colours.
