The upcoming iPhone 16 series has already arrived in the rumour mills even though Apple launched the iPhone 15 series last month. Barely a month after the iPhone 15 series launch, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities has revealed several upgrades coming to the iPhone 16 Pro next year. The latest prediction by Jeff Pu is made based on information from analyst’s sources in the Apple supply chain. According to the investors’ note, Pu predicts that Apple will finally introduce bigger displays on iPhones. The iPhone 16 series will get a slightly larger (0.2 inches bigger) display. For the uninitiated, the current crop of iPhones come with a 6.1-inch display for smaller models and 6.7-inch for Plus and Max variants.

The analyst says that the increase in size will allow Apple to equip the iPhone 16 Pro with the same 12-megapixel tetra-prism lens as the Pro Max variant for the 5x zoom. Apart from this, the analyst also predicts that the new iPhone 16 Pro models will get a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, which is a massive upgrade from the previous generation’s 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

Additionally, Pu predicts that the iPhone 16 Pro lineup will be powered by the A18 Pro SoC, which will have a 3nm fabrication with 8GB RAM but will get a new Snapdragon X75 modem. This modem will boost 5G speeds up to 7.5Gbps with its 5G Advanced standard. Moreover, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to come with the Wi-Fi 7 standard, which can offer data speeds of up to 46Gbps. This is all that the analyst has shared about the upcoming high-end iPhones set to launch in September 2024.

In the same investors’ note, Pu also shared some details about the baseline iPhone 16 models. According to the analyst, these models will get a brand new A17 Bionic chip. Apple might boost the RAM from 6GB to 8GB on baseline models. Apart from these, other specifications might remain the same. They will come with the same dual-camera setup on the back with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Moreover, the baseline models will come with the Wi-Fi 6e standard instead of Wi-Fi 6.
