Just as expected, HMD Global today launched the Nokia X71 mid-range Android smartphone in Taiwan. The Nokia X71 happens to be the company’s very first phone to come with a punch-hole camera cutout. It is also the first device from the Finnish manufacturer to come with a 48MP camera.

Nokia X71 Features, Specifications

The Nokia X71 sports a 6.39-inch PureDisplay with Full HD+ resolution, 96% NTSC color gamut coverage, and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to a punch-hole for the selfie camera, the device has a claimed screen-to-body ratio of 93%. That’s higher than any previous Nokia-branded smartphone from HMD Global. When it comes to design, the X71 features 2.5D double-sided glass with a solid metal frame in the middle. The power button on the side comes with white LED lighting, which allows it to function as a notification light. On the back of the phone is a circular fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, HMD Global’s latest offering runs on a dated 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor with an Adreno 512 GPU. The 14nm processor is clubbed with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Like other mid-range Android smartphones from HMD Global, the X71 has a microSD card slot supporting further expansion up to 256GB.

The punch-hole display is not the only selling point of the new Nokia X71. It features an impressive triple-camera setup on the back with a 48MP primary sensor coupled with an f/1.8 aperture 6P Zeiss lens and AI scene recognition. In addition to the 48MP main sensor, the phone features a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide angle snapper offering 120-degree FoV. For selfies, the X71 has a 16MP camera on the front with an f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity features supported by the Nokia X71 include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone packs a 3500mAh non-removable battery with support for 18W wired fast charging. As for software, the Nokia X71 will ship with stock Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box.

Nokia X71 Price in India, Availability

The new Nokia X71 has been priced at TWD 11,990 in Taiwan, which translates to INR 26,900 based on the ongoing exchange rate. It is set to go on sale in the country starting April 10. Surprisingly, the smartphone will only be available in a single color: Black. As of now, HMD Global has not announced any information regarding the smartphone’s pricing or availability in markets outside Taiwan. We expect the X71 to debut in global markets with a different moniker.
