Yogesh Brar, a well-known tipster, recently hinted at the design elements of the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a) smartphone. The tipster claimed that he had seen and experienced the prototype of the device. Later, an Android app developer revealed the animated schematic render of the device, confirming the design elements tipped by Yogesh Brar.

The app developer also revealed the chipset and codenames of the upcoming Nothing smartphone. The model number of the smartphone was displayed through the IMEI listing. The upcoming Phone (2a) also received BIS certification, confirming the device’s debut in India. Yogesh Brar has revealed the key specifications and images of the production validation test (PVT) unit of the upcoming Phone (2a).

Nothing Phone (2a) Expected Specifications

The PVT units are produced to ensure that the products are manufactured without any significant issues in the product line. The pictures confirm that Nothing will equip the device with an AMOLED display with a centred punch hole cutout to house the selfie camera. The rear of the image reveals the horizontal camera layout tipped by the tipster and app developer previously.

A dual rear camera setup assisted by LED flash can be seen on the rear of the smartphone, which is a departure from the existing camera placement of the device. However, the PVT unit of Nothing Phone (2a) doesn’t reveal the glyph lighting of the device. The animated schematic render of the device divulged that Nothing would ship the device with three individual glyph lights.

The image reveals that Nothing will equip the smartphone with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. A report shared by Android Authority previously tipped the display size. Yogesh adds that Nothing will equip the device with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Nothing is likely to ship the smartphone with FHD+ resolution.

Yogesh Brar reiterates that Nothing will ship the smartphone with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset launched in February 2023. The chipset is fabricated on a 4nm process and sports two Cortex A715 cores at 2.8GHz, six Cortex A510 cores at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU. The image divulges that the chipset will pair with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

There are rumours that Nothing will also debut the smartphone in a 256GB storage variant. The picture also confirms that the device will run Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 out of the box. The circular camera island of the device will house the 50MP primary sensor and 50MP ultrawide sensor, similar to other Nothing smartphones.

Nothing is also likely to continue to equip a 16MP selfie camera with the upcoming Phone (2a) smartphone. However, the image shared by the tipster reveals that the device has a battery capacity of 1000mAh, which is wrong. A battery with a capacity of around 5000mAh is likely to back the device.

The specifications revealed through the images of the PVT unit should be taken with a pinch of salt. Yogesh reveals that Nothing will the smartphones at the upcoming MWC 2024 event. The London-based company has already started sending out invites for the event. Yogesh also adds that Nothing will price the forthcoming smartphone under USD 400 (approx. Rs 33,300).
